Could be interesting to see what happens with this release. The current BBFC attitude involving violence towards women should leave the certified version of this movie with a running time of about 10 minutes!

However it does on that sleeve pic say 'Original version' so does this mean the submitted pre-cut distributor version or the total uncut version?

If its the latter then I presume that Last House on the Left and Straw Dogs will be back on the shelf pretty soon

There's nothing about it being passed on their website. I do remember reading somewhere that ISOYG had been submitted for classification recently, but I'd have a heart attack if it gets passed uncut! It's got NO chance if you ask me!

I think that picture could just be the cover they've created if it gets the greenlight by the BBFC.
Don't forget, they banned Last House On The Left a couple of years ago!!! I haven't seen ISOYG, but it seems a lot worse then LHOTL.

Only a couple of minutes gone? Doesn't the raping go on for about 40 mins or so? Or is that just daft rumour?

Good question, however being from a generation that missed the "video nasties" I did actually buy this on VHS and have to say the film is crap!

Love that episode of The Simpsons where they go to the movies, and the films showing include

I Spit On Your Grave
I Thumb Through Your Magazines

Who watches movies like these?

HM Customs' officers, policeman and jury members -It's OK for them of course.

I had this seized from me (importing from the US) 18months or so ago and I was dragged to court over it and the case was settled eventually (ie I let them burn it and they paid the court/lawyer bills).

The thing is this film is complete garbage but it's the sort of thing many people want to see for seeing sake (including me).

There's a darn good chance this will be uncut cos those who have seen it (as adults) know there's nothing in it that's not elsewhere on video. It's Graham Bright (still trying to tell us what to watch (http://www.koekie.org.uk/funnel/brasseye/itc.html) -his name is like a censorship rash)and the other little Nazis of the 80s that caused all this Video Nasty nonsense which has been swept away with the disgusting moral majority that's been telling us what we can watch.

Good riddance to old cows like Mary Whitehouse (still dying painfully slowly I'm pleased to say).

Theres no chance it will be left uncut by the BBFC as it contains the slaughter off a real live animal.

I took a look at that website and in the stills section, under the pics it says
'some stills may not appear in the final 18 version'
the cover makes it look like the BBFC have already certificated it tho?

Surely if they had certified it yet, we would have heard about by now (Melonfarmers). It would be a major breakthrough against censorship!

Saw this for the first time last year when a mate - who tends to buy DVD's purely on the basis that they're banned in this country! - imported it from the states.

I was aware of its' reputation and remember seeing the poster in practically every video shop at the time of the 'Video Nasty' travesty of the early '80's.

All I can say is that the film is, to quote a Neil Young song, a piece of crap! Even though I've seen much more graphically violent/sexual situations in other movies, the film still left me with a bad taste in my mouth! And quite apart from the dubious content, it is one of the most badly produced, acted, written, directed, photographed, etc., pieces of crap that has been committed to celluloid! IMHO, of course ;)

But I still don't want it banned! I am curious to see for myself what all the fuss is about when it comes to some of these 'notorious' movies and I wish to make my own mind up about them. I don't want some 'superior' idiot making that decision for me!

Are we sure that this is 100% fact, and not some joke or summat??

According to www.melonfarmers.co.uk, the BBFC have passed it with 7 minutes of cuts. Assuming the distributors don't appeal, it could easily be out before the end of the year.

My, how times have changed...

As for the question of who watches films like these, "I Spit On Your Grave" has a surprisingly broad fan-base, covering both sleazehounds and, particularly, radical feminists.

I would also have to say that, while the rapists couldn't act if their lives depended on it, Camille Keaton is fantastic in the central role and there is a school of thought, quite convincing in my opinion, which considers the film more honest about rape than the glossily exploitative likes of "The Accused" and "Lipstick".

I think it's a very good film myself, although I find the rape scenes unwatchable - which I suppose they should be.

Maybe we've heard nothing because the BBFC are prolly trying to make sure noone hears about this films eventual release... tis not somthing you really want to advertise... and I doubt they want people to buy...

one of the 1st dvds I saw.
Most people forget to tell you that as a film its absolute shi@e.
Big distinction between classic cult films from the 70s/80s that got banned and stuff like this rubbish.
But personal taste is just that.
I know the main message of rape revenge is obvious in the movie but watching a badly staged rapescene, nomatter how terrified Keaton acts 1st so you can get to the revenge bit is not my cup of tea.( jodie foster in "the accused" did it much better IMO )
I'll stick with Fulci and the magic world of zombie exploitation films to get my fill of what the BBFC didn't want me to watch as a kid

I'm 99% sure that there is no "animal slaughter" of any kind in this film.

You not getting this flick mixed up with something else Jimmyboy?
