View Full Version : Pioneer 444 or 545 (Justin please read in)
Hi
I've posted previous threads about buying a complete - home system and have changed my mind slightly. I am now thinking about seperates from the same manufacturer namely Pioneer.
I was wondering what the real difference is between the 2 players above and even the 646A.
Justin on your sight you have the AV package of the VSX-C300K receiver and the S-V50K speakers. Do you also do a pack of the VSX-C300S - as I would be interested if I went for the 545.
Again my main concern is size and looking at this package - its discreet enough to keep the GF happy.
Cheers

Yeap, we do the vsxc300s, and its also available with matching DV444k/s.
I wouldn`t bother with the DV646 unless you went for a better amp, along the lines of the marantz sr5200.
This is probably a stupid question but - looking at an earlier thread on the 545 and the What TV & Video review saying theres no on board decoder...if I went for the 545 and the VSX-C300K receiver - does the receiver act as a DTS/Dolby digital decoder?
Or would I need any other kit? Would I be better off sticking with the 444. Its come down to this choice and I would just like to know a bit more of how this would work.

Nope, the VSXC300 is a full blown DTS/DD receiver, so it does not matter if the DVD player has no onboard dts/dd decoders. Its NOT like the sony htd170 pack, it is infact basically a VSXD710 squashed into a smaller package with a bit less power.
:p :p :p
Cheers Justin
Just made up my mind for ne - I'll be placing an order in the morning
:p :p :p
Bloody hell - even the girlfriends agreed - first time since we moved into our new house - but looks like she'll be getting a Boots voucher for Christmas

No probs, but check the new forum offers, I`ve put the VSXC300 / SV50 / DV444 in as a package for £600 as a few people have asked for it.
Hope that helps:)

Justin if I may add to this thread regarding Pioneer 545 - i was going to order it last night but had no members number.Where di I get this from? As I have a Sony 1070 and play a lot of CDs would I be better off with the Sony DVP NS700P cost is not a major issue.

Yeh, its not obvious what your member number is since the forum software swap. If you go the the 'Currently Active Users' List (on the list of forums) and hover your cursor over your member name, you can see your number in the browser staus bar (at the very end of the url).
There is probably a much easier way, but i haven't worked it out yet.
It can be also found on the buttons of any posts you've made,
Profile, Email, Search, Buddy.

Thats a field not to worry about, as since the software changed its not as obtainable, just not round to removing it fromt he order page - as long as it has your alias and email thats fine:)
