View Full Version : Best DVD player in the £150 - £200 price range?
Will be looking to replace my trusty Sammy 709 hopefully before Christmas and am looking to make the next step up in quality. The player that has caught my eye is the Toshiba SD-210e which looks to be an excellent machine.
Anyone recommend any other machines in this bracket adhering to these features:
Multi-region remote hack or pre-chipped
RGB Scart output
RCE disc playback
Auto TV system setting if poss. (the Sammy 709 only has a switch at the back of the player to switch NTSC, PAL and SECAM)
Co-ax Digital output
Silver
RELIABLE
Not that bothered about CD-R, MP3, S-Video or decoders on board
Any ideas?

Avoid the Tosh210e, too many reliability issues. The new Sub £300 star is the Pioneer DV444 (getting beter reviews then the old Tosh210e).
As for price, click on the link below for a Dv444K for £180 M/R :)

My Tosh 210e has been working fine for the past 6 months. Granted it's not been long but, but touch wood, I fully expect it to be like that for many years to come.

Glad to hear it, but the fact is (and its not just form our point of view, I know of at least 7 other firms we deal with on a regular basis witht he same issues, including sevenoaks) have had large numbers of returns with various faults. All brands have returns, but this range (110 and 210) has a higher return number compared to units sold / other manufacturers, as other forum members will confirm:)
Compared to the older 2109 / 100 models, which had hardly any returns, its not to be expected froma brand like toshiba:(
Just found a review on Home Entertainment - I think I may have a winner!
