Hello all :)

I've decided to order a Canon EOS-300D, so I'll need some memory to go with.

I'm not to sure where to look for the best deal, or who actually makes the good stuff.

I found this on Ebuyer:

MagicStore 2.2Gb Microdrive (Type II Compact Flash) @ £79.92 inc VAT

Seems quite cheap to me - maybe too cheap (as all the others I've seen cost double!) I'm I missing something?

Its a micro-drive - i.e. a miniature hard-disk.

Will work in the same way as compact-flash. The only difference is that its not rugged as a usual compactflash modules due to it having rotating media

I'm pretty sure microdrives's are slower than their solid state counterparts. They definitely use a heck of a lot more power, so your batteries won't last as long.

microdrives are quite fast, it depends on the make of compactflash really (you can get some big speed differences between the various manufacturers)

I wouldn't use that one. I got one when I first got my 300D, but it doesn't work that great, Sometimes the camera just stops working and turns off. It only does it when using that card so I'm guessing thats what's causing it. If you search on google you should find a few people have had trouble with using that microdrive with the 300D.

Avoid like the plague - as mentioned above it is not compatible with Canon DSLRs. In fact I would not recommend the use of any microdrive - they're just not robust enough.

OK, cheers guys :)

How about the following?

Lexar 80x Pro 1Gb CF, about £75 from eBuyer.
