Nope. And you don`t have to have a chip soldered into it to make it MR either, it can be software modded...

That's true Justin but a DIY chip is only £20 and you fit it yourself in the comfort of your own home ( assuming you have soldering skills) also for another £9 at the time of ordering you can also have RCE compatibility which is not available by software mod except of course on firmware version 1.6 where the software mod / Auto chip becomes RCE compatible :)

Great - how can I update the software?

Thanks.

We have two mods for this player ... an Auto mod that is not RCE compatible and an RCE mod which when fitted alongside the Auto mod allows manual selection of RCE mode.

Please note that RGB output is disabled in RCE mode.

These mods are available as DIY or fitted ...

As DIY these two mods are £20 and £15 each but both mods together for DIY is £29

if choosing fitted Auto region without RCE compatible we can do the mod without any visible trace ie no soldering.

Price for non-RCE compatible fitted is £50 and price for Auto and RCE is £65 fitted

If you want something more featured then you could buy the DIY mod from Techtronics for £49+VAT or choose their fitted upgrade for £85 plus VAT

Hence why I said your mods are crap!

Besides if you read my original post I'm looking for an alternative before I buy a mod, and someone mentioned a software mod.
Please can someone tell me either
a) where I can download the mod - I assume I would have to burn it onto a CD and install it.
b) where I can go to get it modded.

Oh dear here we go again .... the software mod means having the player reprogrammed for auto region .... it's the SAME AS MY MAGIC MOD - Not RCE compatible..... this is the Mod that Justin from Upgradeheaven was suggesting to you for a fee of course....

YOU CANT MOD THIS PLAYER FOR FREE !!

Probabily 90% of upgraders in the UK would use this Auto mod method and not bother about RCE comaptibility .... I decided that it would be worthwhile deveoping an RCE fix for the player that people who had bought mods or players that were not RCE compatible could fit so they were not totally stuck and could watch RCE disks if they were happy to loose RGB output when in RCE mode..... Why does it loose RGB output in RCE mode ?? because your player becomes a true Region 1 player and Region 1 players do not have RGB output !!

So my mod is actually better than 90% of mods available out there .... that said I agree I would love to see you go to techtronics

Nooooo! Don't go there girlfriend

Got my Sony 535 done at Link (http://www.linkonline.co.uk), and it's quality. The mod for your Sony model is listed here (http://www.linkonline.co.uk/cgi-bin/LinkOnline.storefront/3bfbdcb800fc2a4a273fc299143206a4/Product/View/DVPNS400DB) - demacrovisioned (despite what it says on the website, I checked with them), auto & manual selection, therefore RCE compliant :)

I don't work for these guys, I just think they're a quality alternative to Techtronics without all the post-sales horror stories.
