Hi

I am looking at getting the above player but I am trying to find some reviews on it. Does anyone know of anywhere that has done a review on it?

Also, are there any retailers in the Northwest (Lancashire area (ish)) that sell region free dvd players?

Any comments appreciated.

Heres a review of the DV444 which is basically the same player minus a few things:

http://www.home-entertainment.co.uk/grouptest_read.asp?GroupID=1499&ArticleID=1498

They are cracking machines, i got mine on Tuesday and have'nt looked back sincem, plays every thing i got, R1, R4, MP3, really badly scratched VCD and CDs, the lot.

Its Still on offer i think with Justins Forums offers and is a good price and full modded. Look Here:

Pioneer DV545S M/R £250 + £10 ship

The latest issue of What Video & TV carries a review, and the conclusion is "No obvious compromise in quality or features. Pioneer's own chipset works admirably, and the additional audio circuitry helps to provide a crisp sound. With its excellent remote control and simplified user interface, the DV-545 has all the bases covered, and at a reasonable price too."

What's bad, it says "No onboard decoder; no DVD-Audio compatibility".

Verdict: "A well-equipped and stylish deck with excellent video performance and no real downers."

A friend of mine bought one on the basis of the review, and has not been disappointed.

They do have a website http://www.whatvideotv.com, but you can't access the current issue's reviews, only those carried in the previous 12 months.

You might have to just buy an issue (£3.40), or do what everyone else does and go into a branch of WHSmith during your lunch break and read it!

I got one (thanks Justin) and am pleased with it. I watched a few movies on it and the picture is so much better than that of the Sammy 709 and the PS2 (both of which I have to compare to).

Having an RGB scart thruput is a def plus for me.
