Quite simply the best live show I've ever seen. The set was made of classics new and old, and when the crowd took over on vocal duties for the choruses of Christmas In Washington I couldn't stop crying out of utter joy. We missed Alison Moorer (except the last song, which featured her on solo guitar and voice with Earle on mandolin) due to one of our group being late - yes, the one with the tickets.
I can't wait for the next time. It more than made up for missing Tom Waits.

You're joking. I presume he is now an 'ex-friend' ? :)

He has been disciplined, yes.

Haven't seen him live for a few years - last time was the Copperhead Road shows at the Town and Country Club as it was then - great performer, sounds a top night.
It has been one of my lifelong ambitions to see Steve Earle live, and I've got tickets for the Nottingham Rock City gig in December booked. I just hope that I'm not hyping it up too much in my mind...

I missed him this time around, but saw him once at an open-air festival near Edinburgh - he was just incredible - I was expecting him to be good, but not that good.
I've found the last 2 albums a bit disappointing though.

Jerusalem is superb; John Walkers Blues is one of Earles best in-character moments. The Revolution Starts Now smacked of "best release an anti Bush album then" and didn't feel as complete as some of Earles other releases.

I love John Walker's Blues, but as a whole, Jerusalem didn't really do it for me. I'll have to go back and give it another chance.
