Hi. Almost got my home cinema complete. Just need a centre speaker. I'm looking for one that doesnt sound tinny and produces a fair bit of base. The two above mentioned seeem to have very good reviews, anyone else got any thoughts on them?
Thanks.

If you're looking at the mission, get the 77c1 instead of the 70. A bit more expensive though). Don't know about the Tannoy, but I've read good things about em on here.

I bought mine from Audio Excellence. Have a flick through What HiFi mag and there will be lots of suppliers listed in the back.
The problem with the 77 series is that suppliers cannot sell them mail order (or online). Or so I've been led to believe ......
:(
However I've got a 77C1 (and M74 fronts) and it's a very good centre speaker !!!!! :D

I can vouch for the Mxc. I have one mated to Mx3's at the front and it has given me no cause for concern. It is well constructed and conventional in design. The only considerations are it's appearance (maple or oak with silver grill) and its size. It is quite large to balance on top of some TV's.
Also look at (or should that be listen to?) the M7C1 - very clean, natural sound and good looking too. Try http://www.hifijunkies.co.uk - I believe they may be able to supply the M77C1 if you ask them nicely!

Cable Monkey.
How does the Tannoy mxc perform with bass as I can't be having a seperate subwoofer.
Same question to Neon regarding the m7c1.

I can also vouch for the Tannoy - well-built and solid. Excellent sound.
I run it with mX3's and don't bother with a sub.
The bass is more than enough for me (and my neighbours)

Cool. Thats the answer I was looking for.
Ordered for £75 incl delivery.
Seeing as though punisher has his answer, my question is very similar and maybe the same.
I tried my mates AMP with His Front speaker which is from the Sony Package HTK-315. I had my 4 speakers which are from my stereo 2 SONY's and 2 WHARFEDALES and NO SUB. It all sounded good appart from e.g
In The Matrix the Gun fights sounded amazing on the four speakers but when the camera went face onto the gun shooting the centre speaker sounded really tiny but from the side amazing . Do I need to do the same and get a better Front speaker.
Thanks

Now why could I never explain it like that Whitty. What you have said is my point exactly.
With that inmind (cable monkey)would you still recommend the Tannoy mxc?
I would - I have the MXC in between two M73s (so I am not in either camp!!). I was immediately impressed (funnily enough showing the Matrix Lobby Scene to the Wife) with the full handling of the frequencies of the MXC - very good. But that isn't surprising considering the dimensions of the cabinet (very long backwards for a centre) and the fact that it has two 100mm drivers each side of the tweeter which are fully rear-ported.
