i can't believe it - the tight gits want you to buy qt. before you can play the hi res version!

I've always hated apple, but this completely takes the mickey.

watched teh med. res version instead (like i'm ever going to buy qt ;-) or even try and d/l it from the web somewhere ;-)

this trailer looked worse than the others - i'll go and see the film regardless but the acting/script looks pretty ropey ;-)

At least they have one "bad guy" who they can't bump off "boba fett" ;-( unless its his father or something ;-)))

I've just downloaded it at work (so there's no sound for me).

It looks pretty cool (less action, more mood)

AND HOW GORGEOUS DOES NATALIE PORTMAN LOOK?????

Answer - Very

By the way, can anyone tell me who it is that Anakin's having the lightsabre duel with at the end of the trailer?

That's not Boba Fett, it's Jango Fett who I'm told Boba is cloned from.

What would really be exciting if Episode III opened to mostly empty theaters and was a huge flop, so we could finally, literally say that Lucas with his CGI ass ran the franchise into the ground.

I haven't been looking at the right websites, because I've only wanted to see official teaser releases.

I'm not interested in finding out the story and who's in it, until it gets released.

Perhaps you can post more spoliers for us.

Hint, those black bars with spoilers are there for a reason.

exactly.

i warned people about this on the other thread (http://www.thedvdforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33259), but my attempts at helping out are so far falling on deaf ears. nice to hear from a like-minded soul.

i only caught half of the first line of answer's post before i averted my eyes, then complained to the mods but unfortunately they haven't edited it yet. i skipped past it to read subsequent posts and to post here myself.

answer: what possible excuse can you have? other than sheer incompetence/ignorance? and even that is no excuse, just a reason. you're not a "newbie" (though even most of those have more sense) so you know how these forums work and that we have spoiler tags. regardless, you also know that you shouldn't post on a thread unless you have read all the existing posts on it so far - and if you'd done that you couldn't have missed those big, black soiler tags.

nice work. :(

Oh come on!!!!!

He's only giving you the name of a character - its not like he's given any plot lines away!!!

So you know Dracula's a baddie - considering that's what he plays in almost everything he's done its hardly earthshattering news is it.

I think you need Quicktime 5...

btw -

Hayden's 'dark' look is quite good, speaking personally.

and

I thought that was Darth Maul at the end for a moment, before realising it was a Tusken Raider

Hope not too many of you saw this before I corrected the dodgy spoiler tags!

Anyway, I love the trailers - all three of them...roll on next May!

As pointed out, I revealed very little but the name of a character. I've edited my post if anybody has a problem with that, but may I suggest you don't walk around any toy aisles for a while, or watch any pre-release television if you'd prefer not to know any more characters names in the film. As for the other "information" I gave, it's pretty clear from the fact that He's got a red lightsaber. Lucas ain't all that subtle with good and evil you know. :)

Very nice trailer! I've got a good feeling about this one, but I'm trying not to get too hyped up, like I did for the last movie. Although I enjoy watching The Phantom Menace, it's by far my least favourite Star Wars film, and nowhere near as good as it should have been. But this is about Attack of the Clones - right? - so I'll shut up and get to the point.

Some cool little things to look for in the trailer (don't worry, no real SPOILERS here...it's all there in the trailer if you look for it (presumably you HAVE seen the trailer if you're reading this thread), but if you're not one to look into this stuff in detail then skip the rest of my post):

Padme's aide [character name omitted] and his Han Solo-esque smirk... Jar-Jar in his new robes (maybe he's matured considerably in 10 years or so?)... how awesome Ms. Portman looks throughout... Natalie's Leia-esque 'do' in certain scenes... a familiar droid hanging around the happy couple... Anakin and Padme in the Lars homestead (where Luke first saw Leia's hologram in A New Hope, no less)... how cool is that shot of Anakin on his speeder?... Anakin's bas-ass look at 1:51 (very Vader-esque)... Christopher Lee's [character name omitted] cloak (very much like Vader's)... look at Lee's 'saber - the handle appears to be at an odd angle, hmmmmm... Palpatine looks considerably older, if you look closely (are those liver-spots?)... the insider of Obi-Wan's starfighter cockpit... OK, coolest thing in the whole trailer - ignore who Anakin's cutting down in the final shot (although it's obvious if you look at the outline of the head), and instead look at his lightsaber... to me it looks like the one Obi-Wan gives Luke in A New Hope, with the slanted base and thicker blade... oh, and the new blue title rules.

I'm a very happy bunny! :D :D :D

it wasn't that that i had a problem with - as you say it is only information that lucasfilm have released so far. it was when you went on to say "who is a .... ". i didn't know that bit and didn't want to know.

that said, if you were under the impression that was public domain then fair enough, i take all "aggressive comments" made against you back, especially given the way you responded. the way things seem to be around here of late i worried there might be a few flames going back and forth. nice to see that hasn't been the case.

just a mistake then. guess over-caution might be the best policy? anyhow, all sorted - not a problem for me anymore.

Uh, how did i miss this thread.!!!????

It took me bleedin' ages to download this trailer. It looks ace quality wise, nice and sharp although there was a lot or glitches in it. Nevermind.

As for the trailer, it's looking better and better. I think it's my favourite of the three so far. I like the romance slant it takes plus you get a better understanding of Anakins character.

I'm no Star Wars fanatic but i'm REALLY looking forward to this, so much so i wanna start researching up on these characters. Who is Janga Fett?. Looks good though.

I liked TPM and i know i'm gonna like this one too.

you're downloading the "mystery_480.mov" file which is only 8k in size and contains only the first 76 characters of hex code that makes up that trailer.

you need to get a copy which has had that code reattached to the main bulk of the code - which appears masquerading as a text file in your temporary internet files. it's first 76 digits are replaced by x's. do the maths!

there are quite a lot of links on the various 'trailer 2' threads on this forum, or you could download both parts and stitch it up yourself.

Paul, Ben's right. Your best bet is to look in either Dark horizons (http://www.darkhorizons.com) or Jo Blo (http://www.joblo.com) and search for the trailer you want. Then just right click save as or use Download Accelerator if you have it).

A couple of mates got it this way after i told them they couldn't get it unless they had the DVD.

OH how wrong i was. Thank you Lucas!!!!

I've downloaded the trailer from the first link posted (it's also one of the links on the Movie-List website) and whenever I try to open the .mov file it loads within Quicktime 5 and then completely shuts it down. It then opens up IE5 and tries to access Quicktime's trailer pages of their website.

Wait a minute! Are you telling me that 'Forbidden Lurve' is showing in cinemas, while 'Mystery' is only available on the web? Madness!

Does it come with a warning; 'The first half of this trailer may cause extreme discomfort & possible vomitting' ?

Looks like Lucas has chosen another 'great actor' to play Anakin.

Mind you, Ms Portman looks mighty fine in leather...

yes, this is indeed the case. why "madness" though? there is one teaser trailer in cinemas the same as last time, and there will be another trailer in cinemas in march - again, same as last time. mystery was just an additional bonus for the fans.

Looks like Lucas has chosen another 'great actor' to play Anakin.

i think it's a bit premature, as well as unfair, to judge hayden christensen's acting ability on a few glimpses of scenes in a teaser trailer! furthermore, it might be unfair to judge his acting abilities on his appearance in a star wars movie! :D hardly the greatest material ever from a dialogue point of view.

loads of people in america went to see hayden in life as a house last month with the fear that he might be cr*p. all the reports i have heard have said he was great and his acting talents were well above par. anyone here seen it?

aprout
21-11-2001, 15:50
Ben - 'Madness' because IMHO, the first half of this 'love' trailer is horrible, hallmark, vomit-inducing sugary pap (apart from how Ms Portman looks ;) ), the second half on the other hand is great.

(& isn't it the 2nd trailer in cinemas, the 1st being the 'breathing' one?)

The 'Mystery' web trailer was great all the way through though.

You could be right about his acting ability, but let's face it, Lucas doesn't seem to care. Judging by that bit in the Phantom Menace doc, he puts the perfomances together in the computer anyway :D

Ben Martin
21-11-2001, 17:37

as far as i know the breathing trailer only played in the states (haven't heard of it appearing anywhere here, apart from on tv) and even there, it was only with monsters inc. and not in all cinemas. anyway, i take your point, but mine was just that there is no reason why mystery should be in cinemas.

each to their own, but i loved the whole trailer. i thought the romance looks like it should add some weight to the developing story, and that's certainly needed after episode I. plus, i want that relationship to be there - after all, it is the catalyst for everything that happens subsequently and without it the story would be a lot worse off (well, there'd be no story!).

anyway, without giving any spoilers away (i'm avoiding them myself anyway) no-one concerned about romance replacing action has anything to worry about. the romance should effectively replace most of the more 'undesirable' elements of episode I while the action should be bigger, more frequent and more involved with the story than ever.

Chief Brody
21-11-2001, 18:15
I agree with Ben. The romance aspect of Episode 2 will work beautifully because of our foreknowledge that it is doomed to be ended by tragedy. And it looks to me like Lucas has addressed the issue of stiff, unemotional characters in TPM (people actually SMILE in this trailer!). Hayden and Natalie appear to be likeable and charismatic in the movie.

Of course, that would be because you live, breath and worship the work of Mr Lucas don't you ? And if you try to deny it, I'll ram every Episode II trailer and Mr Lucas thread you participated in, to back up the point ;)

no. it's actually because, like every other movie, episode II deserves a fair crack of the whip before people pan it. if people do indeed dislike it after they've seen it (and i know many will) then fine. and hey, i haven't seen it myself yet and will reserve my own judgement until i've seen it as well, believe it or not. and what do i care if other people don't like episode II anyway?? you might not have picked up that i'm also a manchester united fan (now you can really take a dislike to me!) who grew up in manchester, owns a season ticket and cut his united teeth paying to watch us week in week out for five years of winning nothing - and i loved it. i couldn't care less what other people's prejudices lead them to incorrectly assume about me from the simple fact that i support united. hopefully the comparison is obvious.

that said, yes i love the star wars movies, and am thus naturally biased. but i don't care for the rest of it (books, comics etc). as for the allegation that i "live, breath and worship the work of Mr Lucas", that is going way too far and deliberately misrepresenting me for some unknown purpose. worst of all it implies that i might be a fan of howard the duck!! after the last time i saw episode I at the cinema in october 1999 i didn't watch it again for over 2 years until it came out on dvd. during that time, the only only star wars movie i watched was the empire strikes back. once. at someone else's house. also, i'm not stupid and i can see all the many faults of episode I and will bitch/moan/laugh about them myself with other fans who i know also still love star wars regardless. but when i watch the film i let them all go (apart from one or two).

even if i was a rabid "fanboy", i wouldn't give a monkey's what anyone else thought about it, nor should i. and what's with the attitude in your post? :( maybe you didn't mean it, but i'd be surprised as it comes across quite aggressive, and very unprovoked. all that talk of "ramming" me with my own posts?? what was that all about?! like they were all 'secret' or something and i'm trying to keep them under wraps but you've blown my cover?!! :D LOL! i don't think so! it's blatantly obvious to everyone that i love star wars - it's not hard to work out, they only have to look in my sig after all! furthermore, if this is meant as bait of some sort then tonight of all nights i'm not rising to it. i've just come back from a preview of jay and silent bob strike back, with it's message of "don't give a flying ---- about what anyone on the internet says about you". indeed.

my apologies in advance if you didn't mean it that way, but that ";)" hardly made up for the sentences that preceded it.
