Which version of Robocop though as the BBFC have passed both the theatrical and directors cut version uncut as 18 ratings ?
1 & 2 are actually quite good, but 3 is quite poor, so i think i'll get the first two seperately.
I just hope that Robocop 2 gets an anamorphic transfer, because I actually really like Robocop 2, with it's over the top comic book type violence.

Can't find the story about this - is it www.dvdreview.co.uk or www.dvdreview.com?
Sorry for being thick!

From what I read in one of this month's DVD magazines (I forget which one), the version of Robo 1 will be the Director's Cut - with a host of new extras (incuding a 'making of' documentary which isn't on the CC disc).
According to this article Robo 3 will be uncut too (unlike the current R2 version), but they didn't say whether #2 was also going to be released uncut. Hope so, coz the quality of the R1 disc is a bit pants.

All previous BBFC cuts have been waived. Did the MPAA make any cuts?
I really hope they release the first one on it's own - it's the only one worth watching IMHO.

DVD Review, issue 32:
"For ages, UK fans of heavy metal policemen have had to make do with an unimpressive release of Robocop 3. Now, though, MGM is laying down the law with the Robocop Trilogy Boxset!
Due for release next February, the Robocop Trilogy includes a new Special Edition of Paul Verhoeven's original film, the previously unreleased on DVD Robocop 2 and a new version of Robocop 3. Robocop SE is not the same as the now-deleted Criterion edition from the States, featuring a different set of extras.
The special features on the Robocop DVD are the 'Flesh And Steel: The Making Of Robocop' documentary, the 1987 featurettes 'Shooting Robocop', a storyboard-to-film comparison with audio commentary by ED-209 creator Phil Tippett, a photo gallery and a collection of trailers. Also on the disc are four deleted scenes, which can be viewed within the film via seamless branching. None of the scenes - 'OCP Press Conference', 'Nun In The Street', 'Topless Pizza' and 'Final Media Break' - have been seen before, so they look like a UK exclusive!
The version of the film is also the savagely violent Director's Cut, never before seen in this country (unless you imported the Criterion disc), meaning that an 18 certificate is assured!
Robocops 2 and 3 appear to be sans extras, but let's face it, it's really the first film of the trilogy that everyone wants! The expected price of the boxset will be £29.99. Going to buy it? You have 20 seconds to comply!"
And the latest from their web site:
"Ultraviolent sci-fi classic RoboCop is ready and reloaded for 11 February as part of a cool RoboCop Trilogy DVD boxset. The special features listed below are confirmed and it promises to eclipse both the Criterion Collection’s version and the present R1 disc.
Your prime directives are as follows:
Director’s cut
Dolby Digital 5.1 sound
Brand new documentary ‘Flesh And Steel’
Additional production reel with DC scene build
Commentaries by director and screenwriter
Deleted scenes
Two original featurettes
Photo gallery
Storyboard comparisons with commentary
Collectable custom packaging"

Thanks NexusSheep for the data.
Looks like there won't be a commentary from CC release.
I'll still have to retire you though. :(

Not really bothered about the extra's (apart from that comm:D ). I've heard lots about this director's cut of the movie, so i'm really looking forward to this one.

The next question is - will the first film be in its original 1.66:1 ratio, or matted to 1.85:1 (as I believe it was in the cinemas)?
