Why, is the french version already out?
The French version is already out in a great package (see amazon.fr) which I think is three disc (soundtrack) and has everything but no english subs!:( I think this one has sold out anyway as it was limited but there is also a 2 discer standard affair that also has great extras.:) Hope we get this one soon!!

I'll wait and see if the r1/r2 is better, but if not, i'll get that one (speak french)

You may have a long wait for a R1 version as the film hasn't been released over there yet and Miramax are going to spend a large amount of money hyping it to the max around Oscar time. ( If it get's nominated that is. )

Some things are as certain as day & night. Amelie being nominated for Best Film & Jeunet for Best Director ae 2 of those things.

I hope it wins Best Picture, but it obviously won't. Maybe Foreign Film, but they're too tight to give a foreign film best picture itself. Audrey Tautou should win Best Actress as well. I doubt they'll even nominate her. Amelie: 10/10 www.the900thdimension.com/reviews/films/reviews/amelie.shtml
:) My review

I'd ad best Actress, Cinematography, Original script and music as well.

In my option, the film desrerves to win:
Best Picture
Best Actress
Best Director
Best Cinematogaphy
Best Score
Best Original Screenplay
Best Foreign Film
Best Film Editing
and be nominated for:
Best Supporting Actor but not actually win. So 7 Oscards, 8 Nominations. But as if that'd ever happen. :( It deserves it though.
Others that should maybe be nominated for Best Picture (never watched ones that aren't even out yet, so i dont know if they'll be good or not):
A.I.
Ali
Vanilla Sky
Fellowship of the Ring
Best Actor:
Haley Joel Osment (A.I) - He should win it
Best Actress:
Cate Blanchett (The Gift)
Nicole Kidman (The Others)
Best Supporting Actress:
Forggotten her name, but the girl in The Others.
Best Supporting Actor:
Jude Law
Hmm, nuff said :)

I would very much doubt that the R1 or R2 editions will beat the double disc French set, it is absolutely stuffed with features including a Jean Pierre Junet audio commentary - this alone has got to be good enough reason to get the French edition NOW! :D
And believe me if I could speak/read french I would purchase it immediately (I only wish I'd spent more time listening and learning in French at school now, instead of defacing my workbook with tip-ex) :o

Best Actress:
Cate Blanchett (The Gift)
Nicole Kidman (The Others)
My money's on Drew Barrymore in Riding in Cars with Boys, which I have seen. I think she'll win for the same reasons that Julia Roberts won this year: maybe not the best performance of the year but a good one, from someone who is well liked and has been seen to pay her dues.
Oh, and Steve Zahn deserves a Supporting nomination for the same film.
wheres the cheapest place to get this?
