I'm in the market for a new tv. I have a 28" Hitachi Widescreen at the moment.
Is there a significant benefit in getting a 100Hz set?
I looked a few years ago and remember a lot of smearing on my friends set.
My budget will only stretch so far. I don't know whether to spend my money on a good 28" 100Hz set or a 32" 50Hz
I have DVD, Xbox & Freeview all running on RGB at the moment.
Any help much apreciated.
What is your budget? This will give people a better ide of what to suggest...

Around £400 -£475 at a push.
I do like the sound of the JVC AV28XS4 which is up at £347 at Empire Direct (http://tracker.tradedoubler.com/click?p=137&a=60823&g=19373) (although it's retail is £600)
The 32" version seems over my budget!
There is a 50 Hz Philips 32Pw6517 that did well in some tests, but it seems to have been replaced by a 32PW6518C (£465 @ Empire Direct (http://tracker.tradedoubler.com/click?p=137&a=60823&g=19373)).
I just don't know whether to spend my cash on the bigger set or a 100Hz
Cheers
Well personally I would go bigger set over 100Hz. I personally ended up with a Sony 32" 100Hz for 549 delivered (unfortunately over your budget) but if budget had been less would have gone 32" 50Hz over 28" 100Hz.

32" 50Hz every time - as well as more screen real estate, 100Hz is of questionable use on something as small as a 28" anyway.
Just got a Sony KV28HX15 (50HZ) excellent picture. Only £399 from Comet (price matched against Argos with their 20% off offer) and was able to take it away with me rather than wait a week for delivery. I'm not convinced by the whole 100HZ thing, the times when it's better don't seem to outweigh the annoyance of the artefacts you get with it. One of my mates had a 100HZ Sony 32" (Q70 I think) and ended up swapping it for the equivalent 50hz, he's much happier now.
I had about the same budget as you, I decided on the best possible picture and settled on the Sony pretty quickly. I normally go for Pannys but they just didn't compare.
If you want to grab one of the HX15s better hurry as the discount at Argos finishes on Tuesday I think. You'll still be able to get it from etailers for about the same afterwards tho.
What 32's were you looking at at that price? All of the decent ones I could find were well over £500 with a stand.
Another vote for 32" 50Hz. But then, if 50Hz sets were more expensive than 100Hz, I'd still buy 50Hz.
