[PS2] GTAIII - trails or not trails

Just changed from Xbox to PS2... picked up GTAIII cheap.. is it best to have the trails option on or off? does it effect game performance?

Think it's more of what you prefer, I wouldn't think it affects the game performance frame rate wise, myself I always preferred the option switched off as I found it a bit blury.
