Meet the Feebles is available R2 (seen it in the local HMV), but I think Braindead isn't available in R2. I'm sure there's someone on the forums with a R1 copy who might be able to comment further...
Gives me a reason to post a link to Peter Jackson's homepage (http://tbhl.theonering.net/index.shtml) though!
damn! Beaten again!
i could be wrong, but wasn't the american release of BrainDead cut for an R rating? i know for sure the UK vhs version is uncut (so i guess the R2 dvd will be too when it comes out).

The American version ( called dead alive over there. ) is Cut. But now for gore. A fair chunk of the background story was cut for our American friends with short attention spans.
The full uncut version of Braindead is availble on R2 DVD. It has been released both in Germany and Spain. Sazuma stocks the German release, but use them as a last resort if you can't find it anywhere else.

How is the quality of the Spanish disc? Does it have removable subtitles or do I have to watch the gore with Spanish subs?
Thanks chaps.
Whats a good Spanish/German supplier then ?
and how is the german one uncut ? I thought they were the most censored ?
Or do i wait till I'm in Barcelona at Christmas ?
What is the correct aspect ratio for Meet The Feebles? I was hoping to pick up the R1 version, according to www.dvdboxoffice.com the DVD is 4:3 yet the IMDB states that the aspect ratio is 1.85:1 Can anyone confirm what the aspect ratio of the DVD actually is and what it should be?

Um i dont mean to be funny but HMV in Cardiff were selling 'Braindead' - I don't even know if it is supposed to be out in this country or not - but they definately had it as i picked up that and 'Bad Taste'.
And the UK version was one of the only countries to have the film Uncut, even the 'uncut' American print is still cut compared to ours. But isn't there a Spanish/Brazilian version that is evern longer (though i heard it was more character stuff than gore).
Yep, Braindead for sale on the hmv site...£12.99.
Braindead is £7.99 at Play

Universal released it as a budget title a few months back. (With Bad Taste.)
No extra's. Uncut but 4:3 and stereo only.
(Although it may have been made that way seeing as it's budget wouldn't have bought a pair of Hobbit sneakers.)
I've got 2 sealed Dutch DVDs of Braindead. Same version as the UK but widescreen with removabvle subs, dolby 2.0 (uk is mono) & director biography in English. £13 each :D
If anyone's interested let me know :D
Is that anmorphic widescreen? :norty: :|
You would be better off waiting for Anchor Bay's forthcoming R1 release of 'Meet The Feebles'. According to their web site "many special edition features are being planned" ;)
(The only problem is the scheduled release date - summer 2004  )

The UK version has a somewhat darker and grainiert image than the German version, which currently is the best DVD of this movie (with English soundtrack and without forced subtitles).
As said, even the unrated US-DVD is heavily cut.
The UK and German releases are uncut. The prices of the two DVDs are almost the same - @Play the UK DVD is 7.99GBP and the German DVD is about €10-12.

Almost forgot: I'd really wait for a more decent release of Meet the Feebles, as all DVDs currently available are not really good.
Just get one of them if you really have to or you see it for a very low price (the German DVD is €6, so no problem there :))

The UK Braindead is non-anamorphic widescreen (at 1.66:1 or so) and DD2.0 stereo. The cover is mistaken.
There is also a scandinavian uncut, anamorphic version available, but it's supposed to look worse than the UK release.
Sorry, double post, won't let me delete.
Anchor Bay US are releasing Meet The Feebles SE in 2004
