i have only ever used play or dvdboxoffice

is absound any good, any nightmare stories, what about customs

i ask because they have the x-files box sets series 1-4 @ £52.54 a piece. Which beats the competition hands down.

just worried in case customs stops it and hits it for a another chunk.

ps.. what is the normal charge customs hits for a boxset. (i would dispatch 1 box set @ a time)

many thanks

I've never had any problems with them, there was a security scare 4 or 5 months ago but they emailed customers reasonably promptly and I just cancelled my card - no problems.

Delivery ( if in stock - and the website tells you ) tends to be quicker than DVD Box Office. Not sure about customs (yet) although I've got a feeling people have managed to get the Monty Python and Sopranos boxsets through without any problems.

The only criticisms are that their stock seems less comprehensive than DVD Box Office and they don't really have any disc information - but the cheapest retailers always seem to cut these corners so I'm not really bothered....

This would be better in the Supplier Forum mate :)

To answer your questions...

www.absound.ca are one of my favourite uppliers. HM Customs can be a problem and I don't take the chance TBH.

If Customs get that set they'll charge 21.5% (£11 on your price!)and the Royal Mail will want £2-£4 for paying it on your behalf.

Stick with www.dvdboxoffice.com for Customs free worries or check out the offers at www.ringos.co.uk or www.*********.com

Just a word of warning - check how much absound will add on for postage as their postage rates are quite steep for more than one DVD ...
Other wise they are superb but I only buy or or two DVDS at a time to keep the Customs at bay (and the missus:D) Paul

I was abit wary of using them again after the security scare but I got my Sopranos series 1 & 2 from them yesterday customs free so I wont be complaining, not bad prices either at just under $150 canadian dollars (£65) delivered for both.

Why don't you buy the Season One boxset from here (http://thedvdforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30371). I hear he's very reliable, no chance of customs and a snip at £44 delivered.

My favourite R1 supplier but watch out for those customs charges, mind you my last order of 3 dvd's slipped through nicely.

Where do you get that price from? The cheapest that they have been at A&B Sound is $82.79 (now $83.79) each + $21 shipping for the pair. That makes a total of $186.58 or £82.
