I havee a network bridge on my main internet connected PC. The bridge has an IP assigned to it of 192.168.0.1.

Sometimes the laptop gets an IP of 192.168.0.3. The laptop says it is connected to the home network with excellent reception.

But the wireless connection in the bridge on the desktop always says disconnected - and I cannot get it to connect.

The laptop says it is connected but it cannot access the net or file sharing.

What am i doing wrong?

The cable connection (the other part of the bridge on the desktop)is working fine on my XBOX with file sharing and internet enabled

I would say you need to set it as an access point not a bridge.

Hmmm, the thing is I want to share my internet connection over the cable and wireless networks - for my reading it seems a network bridge is the only way to do that without a router or switch

my understanding, & from the diagrams that came with my wap, a bridge is used to connect 2 parts of a wireless network together, IE 2 seperate switches or lans connected using 2 bridges, an access point is used to connect other pc's or laptops to an existing network regardless of how you share your internet.
