Pricing is about normal for a US release.

Don't forget the US list price for The X-Files season are $150 and they are only 7 discs.

The highlander set is 8 discs

BTW: The company that releasing the Highlander Seasons has obtained the US rights 2 other tv series: Xena and Hercules, current reports suggest Xena will get released when they finish the highlander releases.

Does anyone know if the highlander series was cut for TV viewing in England?

The oposite in fact! Most episodes were 5-10 mins SHORTER in the US due to stations wanting more advert time. The US vhs releases and presumable these DVD's will be the full running time.
