View Full Version : perhaps its time to give in and trade in my [Xbox] for a [PS2] - deed is done..
Had the Xbox for a year.. I traded all my DC stuff to get it..
PS2 still seems to have a much bigger market than Xbox..
All the games I have on the Xbox are also avail on PS2..
I would like to get the eyetoy add on for the kids..
wheres the best place to trade the Xbox in? Can't be bothered with selling it privately or ebay - it weighs a ton..
also no chance can we have 2 consoles knocking about.. its 1 only..
Heres what we got -
Xbox console (boxed)
2 official controllers (1 Green)
games -
Disney Extreme Skater
Simpsons - Road Rage
NBA Street 2
Crazy Taxi 3
Burnout 3*
Tiger Woods 2004
Star Wars Battlefront*
THUG 2*
TH4
* would like these on the PS2
Update -
done it traded-in all above into Gamestation and got
PS2
extra controller
THUG 2
(above bundle they were doing for £110)
Official Memory Card
Eyetoy/play 2
Burnout 3 (preowned)
Pro Evo 3 (preowned)
Paid £24 on top...
so far impressed.. its swings and roundabouts.. Xbox has better graphics, PS2 has much sharper image and brighter..
And this PStwo... is tiny.. couldn't believe how small it is..
Pro Evo has much better playability than FIFA IMO

dont use Xbox live and won't be in the foreseable...
You should get a reasonable deal from Gamestation for the Xbox etc. Might get a better price if you eBay / Classifieds Forum the games separately however.

I'd trade that lot in a GAME store and see what you get.
I traded in:
GameCube
Memory card
3 controllers
MonkeyBall
MarioKart
THUG2 and got £68 fot it all.
So for what you've got you should be looking at about £70- £80.
I didn't think GAME generally gave any credit for controllers that are traded in (although they'll happily take them off you for free) whereas I thought Gamestation usually do offer something?
LMFAO! GAME are an absolute rip-off when it comes to trading in stuff. Gamestation give more so go there. You'd be able to get a nice PS2 package for all your stuff but might have to put like £40-£50 towards it to get Star Wars, THUG 2 and Burnout 3. If I were you I'd pick up a new PSTWO bundle with San Andreas and Burnout 3 for £145. Then buy a memory card on PLAY, you cang et a 16MB one cheaper than an 8MB one in most game stores. Hope I helped a bit. :)

to be fair with the games you mention you would probably be better off with a ps2, all the good xbox exclusives i can think of require some time to play them, except maybe panzer dragoon and outrun 2.

I have an xbox and a PS2. Only use the PS2 for games I can't get on XBox (Viewtiful Joe, ISS Pro Evo until now, Transformers). Much prefer the xbox, and the hard drive takes away the hastle of memory cards.

Exactly: most stuff comes out dual format, and Xbox is (nearly) always technically superior, at least in loading times and saves terms.
Computer Exchange gave me £67.50 for my Xbox.

Was that trade in price or cash price?
I'm wanting to get rid of my xbox. Hardly play the thing. Just going to stick to my ninja laptop.
You should sell your Xbox and buy a DC again.

I'd seriously look at fleabay, you are likely to get £100+ for that package, the tradein shops won't even come close.
As far as packaging and shipping, you could probably send that lot for about a tenner, so not really too much grief, then you have got almost enough for everything you want for the PStwo.
You'd probably get about £80 just for the games if you advertised them on here, and another £70 for the box.
try the classifieds on here......
I will get between £170 - £190 trade in value at Gamestation... so prob. go in that direction..
Not sure ATM as I have a widescreen TV and have some questions about 16:9 support on games on the PS2.. main complaint seems to be that star wars battlefront is 16:9 on Xbox and not on Ps2 (so one person has reported on my other thread).

So what games do you want on the PS2 that aren't available on the Xbox? From what you've mentioned it's only really eye-toy+games and San Andreas.
i don't want san andreas..!
