Cheers for this. Is it any good only there seem to be a lot of negative reviews stating it's overly complex.
Ordered anyway :D
I have never seen it but it has received favourable reviews at various sites I have visited ( AnimeOnDVD and MichaelDVD ) and several people who regularly contribute to the Anime Thread on the Forums rate it reasonably highly. Since it only costs £19.75 delivered I thought I would take a chance on it. The eight discs in the Perfect Collection are on sale at Play for £89.92 ( 3 at £14.99; 5 at £8.99. )

Yeah it's a massive saving over any other site i've looked at. I will watch all eight discs when i get a weeks holiday in November.

It's heavy on the Military politics but it's a very good, very moody slice of action/sci-fi.
How are dvdpacific for customs? The box set only costs US$26.28 ( approximately £14.28 ) so there is no danger of incurring customs charges etc.
stupid question:
What's the difference between the 'complete collection' and this 'perfect collection', as the former is far cheaper... :suspect:
Probably that it's something completely different, huh?
stupid question:
What's the difference between the 'complete collection' and this 'perfect collection', as the former is far cheaper... :suspect: Probably that it's something completely different, huh?The Complete Collection ( Gasaraki Volume 1: Complete Collection ) is shown as having a release date of 23 November, 2004, at Amazon.com and is priced at US$34.99. I cannot find any details as to what it includes at this time. I am not aware of any other Gasaraki Series so perhaps it is just a re-issue of the Perfect Collection. Due to the low price of the eight disc set I decided to go with it rather than wait to see what is included on the Complete Collection.
IMDB (http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0250155/) has a few interesting comments. Sounds like only those with some patience should apply.
I asked because;
http://www.dvdsoon.com/show-title-details.xml?uid=125890&partner_id=10040
$36.98 canadian dollars :D
Also 8-discs. That's all I can remember (dvdsoon won't load the page again) :brickwall
I once had patience. But it all got used up in the process of re-ordering 16 items from DVDsoon.
Good point Much - Maybe I should have waited a tiny bit longer before leaping for my credit card. On the other hand, I've got loads of series "pending" with them and no delivery date in sight.
By my maths, buying from DVD Soon would be ~£16.50 rather than ~£20, but (and this is a big but) you might have a long wait if they don't have it in stock right now.
P.S. DVD Pacific also have the Beastmaster series 1-3 cheap.
Meh, I've ordered it from DVD Pacific. I don't fancy waiting two months for Soon to find some stock. :p
(Watch that comment come back to bit me on the ass when someone orders it and gets it a week later... ;))
The Perfect Collection contains the 8 single DVD releases in a box. I would assume the forthcoming 'Complete Collection' uses an 8-Disc Alpha Case as is the current trend with low-price anime sets this time of year.

$36.98 canadian dollars :DI checked on DVDSoon as soon as I saw the offer on DVDPcific. There was no sign of the Complete Collection on the site at that time so I suspect it has just been added. If the Complete Collection uses an 8 disc alpha case as Kanedaa suspects then I am happy to pay a few pounds more for the single dvd releases in a box.

I might buy this for my flatmate as he's an anime nut.

But what if the 'complete collection' is better - for all I know, there could have been a minor encoding glitch on the original disc(s), or an extra left off, a missing trailer, etc etc :dork:
Besides what's wrong with more space-efficient packaging? As long as it's not one of those with overlapping disc mounts, is it..? :(
Either way; for those who aren't too far ahead with watching their dvd collections (ie. me!) a lower starting pricepoint means better discounts ahead! :D I just want some way to be sure this is in no way crippled / completely different. :suspect: :)
But what if the 'complete collection' is better(?)
It can't be... this is a 'perfect' collection after all. ;)
But what if the 'complete collection' is betterThere is always that chance but since ADV are releasing it at such a low price I seriously doubt that they have added to or improved on the original discs in any way. The reviews at AnimeOnDVD make no mention of any glitches on the original releases but anything is possible. I have no problem with space efficient packaging ( big fan of thinpak cases ) but I also like anime sleeve art which is why I am going for the eight single DVD releases in a box rather than risking the possibility of an eight disc alpha case which I dislike. I hope you manage to find the information you need to help you make a decision.
Could be lacking the 'imperfect' bits. :p
Rude not to finally get this series at that price, cheers OP.
Just got my shipping confirmation through. :)
Paid the extra £2.50 or so to get faster shipping as well, so hopefully it'll arrive soon.
How about the region code on these discs? Is it really R1? I have ADV's Neon Genesis Evangelion collection and it is R0.
I have just finished watching the set from DVD Pacific, still there at $26.28 but "on order" now:
http://www.dvdpacific.com/item.asp?ID=40526
Packaging was 8 amaray cases in a box. Each had a folded A4 ish insert with some diagrams of stuff from the series. Nothing to complain about in terms of picture and sound. Note I watched the English dub with the English subtitles, which incidentally are not the same but similar.
moby - I'm not sure about the region coding (multiregion player) and if it really is R0 or R1.
Cheers hnimmo, I very much enjoyed that :)
