Would like to know if the quality difference is all that noticeable

Would like to purchase a few if they are good films to show off to

I recently got rid of my region 1 Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and bought the Superbit version. I wasn't really bothered about a lack of extras as I had already seen them all.

The picture quality is better, but not by a significant amount. The main reason I wanted it was because of the DTS sound (which is quite a bit better than the DD version)

My advice is that I would get the normal versions if you don't have a dts set-up and want the features, otherwise I would personally recommend them :)

I have ''The Fifth Element'' superbit, my friend has the ''normal version'
we did a test with the members of our family, by playing both versions without telling them which was which

it seem's the superbit won the contest, but don't expect a massive difference:)

Going from reviews, the consensus on picture seems to be that if you only have a 28" or 32" telly, the differences are hardly noticeable - but they're much more striking if you have a giant screen or projection-based system.

The consensus on sound seems to be that the improvement is rather more obvious, but that's less surprising!

Don't know about you, but i find DTS ''A bit to bright'' for want of a better word, but that may be the fault of my system's limitations

I have the Fifth Element Superbit and watching it on a 32" w/s tv it is very good but cant tell that much of a difference, however on my Barco CRT projector and at 7.5ft wide it is stunningly good.

If you already have the R1 Orig disc then unless you want dts, dont bother. The transfer is almost identical on normal 28-32" screens, if using projection or htpc playback then it is worth it.

If you have the R2 then sling it and get this! The R2 transfer is very bad with much of the slight details missing.the superbit or R1 in comparison is Brilliant!

Cheers chaps

I only have a 28" screen but do have a DTS setup

I'm not one for buying a film on the back of its "extra" content so i might give one a go

Particular interest is Fifth Element

I do consider myself a bit of an Audiophile so they might be right up my street

I would have to agree with what the others have already said.

The best advice seems to be if you haven't got the film already then get the superbit one, unless your desperate for extras. It's probably not worth upgrading to the superbits if you already have them, unless you have a big rear projector or something then for the extra quality may be worth it.

The only moan I have about them is they could have at least put in animated menu's, it just feels cheep and nasty not having them even though the quality is in the picture and sound.

The postings above are absolutely spot on.

If you have a small display device (say 32inch or less) you wont see much improvement.

I have all the Superbit titles so far apart for *ahem* Johnny Bleuck. The biggest visual improvements would be ranked thus:

1) Desperado
2) Fifth Element
3) Air Force One
4) CTHD

Audio wise they are all better thanks to the DTS tracks, but its subtle. Basically if you have a large display device they're worthwhile but you lose the extras.
