I can't see why you would connect your TV and the 620 using the component connections. You'd be just as well connecting the DVD player directly to the TV using the best possible type of connection.

In order of preference, these would be:
1. Component connections (need the TV and DVD player to support this function)
2. RGB - typically only one SCART (no.1) which accepts an RGB signal.
3. S-Video - marginally inferior to RGB, but preferable in some cases.
4. Composite - the poorest quality connection

Don't know anything about on-screen display. So I hope someone will come along who does. :D

The OSD isn't essential, you can do everything without using it, but it is useful for setting up the amp initially. I just connected my amp to the TV via the composite (yellow) socket temporarily just to tweak a few settings.

I suggest you do that too and leave the DVD player connected directly to the TV.

Baps is dead on there. Just do it on the amp.

If you do use a composite cable then remember to run it from the monitor out on the back of the amp.
