Excellent news!

I just hope that it's a success and they release the other five instalments in the series.

"All irregularities will be handled by the forces controlling each dimension.... Sapphire and Steel have been assigned!"

To be honest, the woman I spoke to was unsure if her paperwork mean't volume one or a boxset of the entire series of six.I've been waiting for these so this is excellent news

Outstanding news. UFO and Sapphire & Steel in the same year. Can’t see it being all six in one go as that’d mean quite an investment for a show that’s not been re-aired in 22 years. I’d imagine Carlton would want to test the water and see what the sales are like with the first adventure. I wonder if this decision had anything to do with the recent Top Ten Sci-Fi show where S&S made a well deserved appearance together with comments from PJ Hammond and David McCallum but strangely not Joanna Lumley?

Hope this is done properly with commentary by the writer and two principals.

Hey Desk, dont forget that trans-Euranic heavy elements may not be used where there is life

This is indeed excellent news. Many thanks for the post, Martin....
Pleased to hear David MacCullum saying he would be up for a new Story in the C4 top ten SF. And PJ Hammond apparently in very good health....
If they can resurrect Doomwatch and Randall & Hopkirk....

Seems like unless something radical has happened we may not get the show on DVD after all:

Sapphire & Steel was due to be rereleased onto video from June 2000 onwards. Unfortunately, Carlton have told me that "our production team have spent a great deal of time trying to repair the master copy, but have not been able to bring it back to releasable quality". Rumour had it that the releases still might have gone ahead in 2001. However, this is now definitely out of the question with a "Unfortunately because of the poor quality of the masters we will not be releasing this title on video."

However the plot thickens:

<< We maybe doing this at the end of next year.
The reason we haven't done these already - is
because of the poor quality of masters that were supplied to us.
Thanks
Kevin/Carlton >>

Mixed news, Jonathan, but ta muchly for the update and links. Bookmarked in a nanosecond.

Will wrap my VHS copies in cotton wool if there's any chance of a problem with the masters.
