I'm in halls at uni and I'm connected to the net throught the uni's proxy using Internet Explorer. I installed Firefox today on my laptop to give it a go, I entered the proxy settings in Tools --> Options --> Connection Settings but all I get is the error 'The Proxy Server you have configured could not be found. Please check your proxy setting and try again'.

I can still connect to the net through IE, why not Firefox if the settings are the same?

is firefox using a port other than port 80?

IE may still be your default browser

I made Firefox the default browser when it started, and it should be using 80 because it imported the settings over from IE when it first ran.....Just checked, yep it's using 80.

Right, uninstalled then reinstalled Firefox, even cleaned out Application Data. This time I didn't let it Import the settings or anything else. Entered the settings manually, but still same error again. I give up, back to IE, oh well...
