As per the title, this should, in theory, be a simple question:

Are there any DVD RAM compatible DVD players available that will play DVD RAM discs that are still in the cartridge? I need something to complement my DMR-E55... :)

I don`t think there are any players that will take a RAM disc in the caddy ?

You can of course take them out of the caddy.

I don't think even Panasonic players will play RAM in caddy, although they play them without.
This is the main reason why buying a Panasonic recorder ,instead of Pioneer or JVC or Toshiba is a bad idea

Why is that? :?: Nowadays RAM media can easily be removed from the caddy (it's designed to open & close). It's also readily available in a caddyless form.

Cheers for the info guys - you've pretty much confirmed what I thought :(

braintree - the benefit that RAM gives me over + or - RW far outweighs the disadvantages IMO. I could use caddy-less RAM discs, but I prefer the protection of the caddy.

The Panny S35 player my parents have states it will play DVD-RAM in big letters all over it. The player has a standard tray, so the media needs removing from the caddy.

All recent Panasonic players will play Ram discs but not in the caddy !
