Anyone seen the new DVDs of Bergman's Smiles of a Summer Night or The Magician (aka The Face) and care to comment on their quality? Also, does anyone know when The Virgin Spring is being released?

I've yet to see them for myself, but apparently they're surprisingly good for Tartan - even the addition of electronic subtitles being a major step forward for them!

I know I've mentioned this before (and no I don't work for them :D ) but the quality of the Bergman discs from Tartan are incredible compared to the rubbish they usually put out.
There are electronic subtitles, the picture quality is exceptional compared to others from Tartan. I guess they licensed the transfers from another company as I can't believe that the transfers on The Magician and Smiles of a Summer Night (the two discs I bought) are by the same company that produced some of the worst transfers on DVD.
