After last night's fantastic conclusion to the series I was wondering if anyone knows of any plans of a DVD release?
I vaguely remember this being raised before but the search function isn't working.
Thanks:)

I seem to remember that a DVD release was considered unlikey due to the network that shows it in the US (NBC?) not liking anything getting in the way of their syndication rights.:(

You tell 'em! (I agree by the way)
There was a rumor of mid-2002 in Australia, which if true, could mean a UK/Europe release around the same time. This might be possible as Warners take care of the distribution of West Wing, as they do with Friends, and the latter has been released in the UK, Europe and Australia in full season boxsets, but not the US as yet.

I for one would definitely buy a boxed set - although I hope Warner choose to release it in a format like Buffy - which does less damage to my shelf space...
How long before the next series in the UK??
A friend of mine told me that the syndication rules mean they can't release shows on DVD until there have been at least 100 episodes. Anyone know if that's true?

Syndication rules would only affect the release in the USA.
The market for television shows on home video is nowhere near as well developed in the US as it is here.

I'm guessing not until June 2002 once the current series has finished in the US. :(
It's easily the best TV show in the last five years, if not the best TV show ever! (Sopranos and ER fans relax, you are fans of the second and third best TV shows ever.) - Although overall I did prefer season one over two slightly: not as many 'unmissable' episodes but less misjudged ones (plus the last episode of season one was better).
I can't wait until series three! - Note that we get part of series three next week on E4 as they are showing the September 11th special.
I would love to see The West Wing come to DVD, I just hope Warner don't forget the extras. Preferably I would like season box sets as I don't want to have to buy each disc individualy (although it's better than nothing) and 7 discs should just about do it - 6 for episodes 1 for extras.
As you can see, in my perfect world we would get box sets that completely rip off Fox's X Files Box Sets :D .
Roll on 20/11/2001!
and
Roll on [insert date of first West Wing DVD release]!

Assuming you mean season 3, they're up to about episode 6 in the USA at present. I seem to recall E4 began showing season 2 in June 2001, so I'd expect season 3 to appear on E4 around June 2002.
Season 2 will be shown on Channel 4 in the coming weeks. Think I'll watch most, if not all the episodes again to see how much I remember from the showings on E4. :D
I heard that Channel 4 was going to be showing the new series early next year, some time around Feb.
Season 2 has already been shown on E4 and they wanted to boost ratings on that new channel before bringing it to mainstream terrestrial...

I only got into WW at the beginning of season 2 after being asked to tape it for a friend who was on holiday for a couple of weeks. I was hooked.
I'd be over the moon if a season 1 boxset was available some time soon, so I could see how it all started out.
Best US drama this millennium. IMO.
Best wishes,

I`ve just been watching E4 on Sky and there is a West Wing special next tuesday which was filmed after the Sept 11th tragedy ........just thought you people might like to know!:)
