I've got one of these (£149 from Argos (http://www.tkqlhce.com/click-582776-8829216) last month - ouch) and it's pretty good. I love DAB! Saving up for a DAB car head unit now.

Any idea if Argos (http://www.tkqlhce.com/click-582776-8829216) only stock the black one? Quite fancy the white one....

I got mine from superfi.co.uk - http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.cfm/Product_ID/1924
Their price of 123.95 includes shipping and they've been doing it a while. They do the black and the white one at the same price. That's only 1 pence more than argos including shipping, before you take into account the argos £10 voucher.
So if you don't want the argos voucher, there's an alternate source for you.

What does it improve? Is there anyway to upgrade the software without the USB cable? I have a card reader.

Just got one for £129.99 from Comet with a free £10 discount voucher that can be used on any purchase over £50 so I guess this would be £119 ? They had both Black and White.

No m8, you have to connect to your PC, download the v1.1 software from www.thebug.com and while connected go through the menu's on the Bug itself to update....quite clever really...and here's a list of improvments.....with the first being the best feature as before you could only rewind when the card was not present.....
Upgrading gives the following changes:
Fast Forward and Rewind capability added to SD card track playback.
Improved responsiveness of the Navigator key when switching to standby.
Improved SD card management, including: Support for long filenames and non-alphabetical characters; Better handling when Secure Digital (SD) card is full or not inserted; Quicker access when listing available tracks.
Generic Info modes (Clock & Bug eyes) are now available from DAB, ReVu and SD card playback modes.
Unassigned Shortcut keys display context sensitive Info mode depending on current mode: Whilst listening to DAB they display the stored Preset stations; Whilst in ReVu mode they display the Forward and Rewind controls; Whilst listening to SD card they display the Forward, Rewind, Stop and Delete controls.
Improved Timed Recording implementation allowing options to cancel the recording and switch to standby or cancel the recording and continue listening.
Fixed issue where SD card playback timer incremented at half speed under certain conditions when playing MP3/MP2 tracks encoded at less than 64 kbps.
Fixed occasional burst of noise heard through Digital out when switching off.
"Line Out Recording" menu item in the Audio settings changed to "Audio output" to reflect the naming of the Stereo Out output on the rear of The Bug.
DAB station Auto-select feature now working in the Live radio menu remembered after power down.
Disabled DAB station change during record.
Improved monitoring and listing of available DAB stations, including greater awareness of secondary stations switching on/off.
Favourite DAB stations now highlighted with an "heart" icon.

Must say, the ease of use is great, and having just filled a 256mb SD card and copied it to my PC, the record feature is really 2nd to none !!

Could one of you enviable owners of a Bug just take a look round the back and see if it has an aerial socket, PLEASE?
I can get really good DAB reception from a roof aerial but not much good with a telescopic one.
Tim
BTW - the next software update is due very soon and being a proud beta tester I can say its got some really nice bits in it!!
Look for updates @ http://www.puredigital.com/Support/kb.asp?Product=VL-60715 (http://)

Tim m8, the aerial that comes with it is connected to the screw on socket, so yes you can remove it and attatch an external one (I have)

Thanks for this info, Dark.
One other question - how do you read the time on the LCD screen in the dark? Do you leave the backlight on at night?
Tim.

You get settings for the backlight both in 'on' mode or 'standby' mode ranging from off, low, medium and high so that it doesn't bother you when you're trying to sleep. Low normally suffices when I leave it on sleeptimer and it goes off automatically. :)
