View Full Version : Ashlee Simpson storms off Saturday night live (Now with remix and T shirt!)
I came across this story on popjustice.com,not sure if it should be in the TV or music forum though...
"Ashlee Simpson just walked offstage during the LIVE season premiere of SNL because the sound crew accidently played a sample her lead vocal track through the PA before the song started (talentless hacks like Simpson routinely use a 'lead track' to sing along with - it's Britney's version of a live performance and her many imitators use the same technology).
Even though it was from the last song she'd done (pieces of me), the mistake made it HILARIOUSLY obvious that she was getting ready to lip sync. Her band all stood there, like professional studio musicians with no real love for their 'singer' and earnestly played the song through to the chorus, looking sheepish on an empty stage.
In the end she came on and apologized, saying that her band started playing the wrong"

I love Ashlee's album but if your going to mime you better be ready if it goes wrong!...
It looks like she started laughing before she walked off and the band were smiling about it too.
Funny clip though :)

Ah, sorry, but anyone know if it is more than I what assumed it is?
I think that's all it was but the problem was she had already played the number before they "previewed" her vocals.The band made matters worse as they decided to play along with the track,leaving one very confused Ashlee!
Her album is really good though and worth buying if you like Avril,Pink and any other angst pop...
The video doesnt have any picture on my Real Player, is there a different link?

I've just watched a better quality download,it's a super version.
It's now easy to see the best moment of the clip.
After Ashlee walks off stage the band continue playing.One of the guitarists gives the other a look of "she mucked up!" that's priceless.

AS: I'm totally against it and offended by it. I'm going out to let my real talent show, not to just stand there and dance around. Personally, I'd never lip-synch. It's just not me.

Just watched a clip of Ashlee performing at a award ceromony last night.
The band start playing "Pieces of me" and she tells them it's the wrong song before they start playing autobiography!
At least she has the ability to laugh at herself,however she seems to have the same vocal coach as autotune Lavigne and looked as if she got dressed in the dark!!

Gotta say Lorne that I saw Avril Lavigne at the Birmingham NEC and she sang every song herself....and believe me I expected her to be crap but suprisingly she wasnt. Infact she was quite good. This on the other hand.... :lol:
Jeez man I hate the artists that lip-sync. I know it's generally the done thing in the pop industry but it still bugs the hell out of me. Just had an argument with my co-worker about it and she thinks it's fine if an artist lip-syncs. She said she's been to plenty of concerts (Britney, that Timberlake fella etc) where it was obvious that they were not singing because they were dancing at the same time. Her argument is that she was still entertained so it was worth it.
As far as I'm concerned, I want my artists to sing from their heart, no matter how raw they sound. If they sing with passion and committment then that's all i can ask for.
