Having seen the trailer for Conviction I think this might actually have some potential. (seems the ad annoys some people though! see teabag's thread on BBC ads!)
The ad makes it seem really rather interesting but the press release I've found at the bbc website makes it seem extremely blah! http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2004/10_october/05/drama_conviction.shtml

What does anyone else think?

I am looking forward to this, I always like a "dirty copper" storyline, perhaps with a twist on this one?

I quite like the look of this as well after seeing the ads the other week. I was just about to post a heads up but found this thread so I've changed the title instead.

I too was really looking forward to this. Purely after seeing the advert on BBC3.

However, I plum forgot, and missed the first half hour. I then watched the next hour, and missed the middle half of part 2. I've got the jist of what's happened...

and that the copper killed the now proved innocent suspect, I saw that etc

But I feel I need to watch those first two episodes again. Does anyone know if they are repeated this week?

One thing I did notice though, is in the trailers/adverts, the main character comes across as a real bent copper, real hard nut, yet he's not actually as I expected him to be.

I enjoyed this but can't believe no one has mentioned the fact that this is a "The Shield" rip off.
Dirty cops with secret + maverick loner cop teamed with rookie + fast cuts = The Shield!

I went and missed it after all that!
Looks like these first 2 episodes are repeated on Saturday night 10.55pm - 12.55am

Seems it's gonna be double episodes every time (new Sunday, rpt'd the next Saturday).

Excellent news - we forgot about this so I'm pleased to hear it's to be repeated.

Watched this last night but could only bear to sit through the first episode. I felt it was extremely slow-paced and not in the good way (ie build up tension). The quick cuts were annoying and not stylish becasue they overused them. The one part of violence was OTT and unnecessary. Finally the actors well and truly sucked.

PS - In case I wasn't clear enough, I HATED this programme.

Potentially fine show with some excellent photography spoiled to a large extent by the pointless out of sequence editing. Bit too desperate to be different.

I thought the violence was particularly well done - unexpected and horribly gruesome, just like in real life.

Have yet to watch the second episode, but I thought it was pretty good.

Anyone know what the tune is that goes with the trailers ?? Is it a song or just incidental music for the ad ?

Anyone ?

Just caught ep with episode 4, and I must say I'm loving it so far. Absolutely excellent each week, and plenty of exclamation-inducing moments. The realisation of exactly what happened to little Angela was particularly horrific, and the young actors involved did a fine job of giving me chills.

Slow start, kicked off and now I'm loving it. It's great stuff. Switching back and forth through the timeline of events. Giving you the info when you need it. etc.

Well what can I say.

Top class drama. Shame its now ended.

I wonder if it will be shown on BBC1?

Well done BBC3 - I feel my licence money has been well spent for once :)

That was an excellent series.
I'm glad they showed it in two part sections so we didn't have to wait weeks for the outcome.
I would imagine a BBC 1/2 transfer is almost certain given the ratio of decent BBC3 shows that make it to the bigger channels these days.
I'm sure there is room for a sequel somewhere, even losing one of the main characters.I suppose a jailbreak could see his return though...
I'm sure I saw the actor who was the main character on "Loose women" recently as he wrote the one off drama a few weeks ago about compulsive cleaning disorder (not the right term but close) as he suffers it himself. He must have been stressing while making this show anyway!

Excellent series, it really kicked off and kept going. Fantastic last couple of episodes last night. Had me holding my breath in a couple of places, which is always good when that actually happens. The flashback structure was fantastic and not at all gimicky as it could have easily been. Looking forward to seeing it again.

Excellent finale. Not clear cut whether the ending was "happy" or not, and maybe leaves a hint of a bad taste in the mouth in some respects -- which just makes it all the better. I wasn't sure whether I was going to watch this a fortnight ago, but set the series link anyway -- and what a splendid two weeks it was!

Hooray for the BBC!

I've just watched the last two episodes and thought it was great series. If I'm being critical I'd say it was perhaps a couple episodes too long and I thought some of it was padding.

I know some people liked the flashback/out of sequence editing but I thought they overdid it sometimes but I definitely hope it returns for another series. This is the second BBC Three drama I've really enjoyed (Bodies being the other one).

Don't have bbc3 so had tyo wait and watch this on bbc2. Very good first episode. I hadn't heard much about it so the shock in the middle of the episode was particularly unexpected. Very graphic for a bbc programme.

I quited enjoyed the first episode; the acting isn't great but the writer and director captured the dullness quite well. The streets looked like 70s England.

enjoyed this a lot - quite flashy camerawork, but nothing like the dross that is 'Hustle'

Absolutely fantastic drama. Loved every moment on BBC3, can't wait for a DVD of it.
