View Full Version : [Gamecube] Step-Down Converter Probs
The step-down converter for my NTSC GC has started to make an alarming buzzing noise (on the day Paper Mario arrives to boot :( ). Now I'm not really that knowlegable on the whole electricity thing, do I...
a) Need a new converter, if so where as I can't find anywhere selling them for the life of me (preferably on the high-street as I'd like to play this game today).
b) Reasing an importing FAQ it sounded like I could just buy a UK Nintendo PSU and plug my NTSC GC straight into the mains normally, is that right?
Any help appreciated. :)

That's right - go buy a UK GC power supply & kiss goodbye to those stepdown blues :)
Short of that, I think Maplins sell steppers on the high street.
100W is good enough for a Cube... what's the rating on yours?
90 watts (it came with the cube), but it's been happily running for two years. Played Paper Mario for a while with fingers crossed it wouldn't blow up, and apart from the buzzing it was fine, still I'll ring Nintendo and order a PSU to be on the safe side.
lmk how much they are.. last i checked they were like 20 quid or so which is absurd. I;d rather have a UK one for my Jap GC but havent bought one due to the price yet.

NTSC-Uk says they're about £25 from Nintendo, but Lik-Sang do a converter for £5.50, it's more clutter but for that price difference I can put up with it.

I just rang Nintendo - £20.90 delivered for a PSU :O
My 45w step down has been buzzing since I got it at launch. How loud is your buzz?
