Absolutely nothing in the way of extras. Film only (sadly)
I received this last week from *********. The only extra feature is a trailer.
Transfer quality and sound are OK. No DTS, but the helicopter attack still sounds awesome when the volume's cranked up.
I'm not too sure about the extra 49 minutes. Some of it is OK, but a lot of it just seems to make a long film even longer without really adding much in the way of excitement.

I watched it over the weekend, a stunning film although the film was shot in 2.35:1 the DVD release is reframed to 2.20:1 (I think) and 16x9 enhanced.
This results in very small black bars on widescreen TV's.
The film looks good and the additional footage looks to have come from a clean source - well worth getting. ;)

I think there's going to be a Redux special edition, though, so maybe might be worth holding out for that, if you're a big fan of the film.
I'd never seen it at all, so I was more than happy with just the bare bones film.

The ratio is actually 2:1, which is cinematographer Vittorio Storaro's preferred aspect ratio for the film.

There's a review of this on dvdfile now...
Good transfer but I feel a bit cheated as it would have been nice to have come with some extras on perhaps a 2nd disc and with a dts soundtrack.

No extras on the disc, but I'm starting to care less and less about them. Look at all those 11 hours of extras on the US Shrek, every one of them tedious self promoting 'look how clever we are' rubbish.
What you have here is great picture, ace remastered sound. All the extra scenes were worthwhile except for the french plantation sequence which dragged a little.
The ultimate extra would be the doccumentary Hearts of Darkness. Hopefully it will come out seperately soon.
