Is it possible to ghost windows server 2000 from a scsi disk over to a raid 1 sata disk?

I tried last nite but i was getting an unmountable boot device error after the Server 2000 Loading screen came up, is there a way around this - or is it a full re-install?

The reason you're probably getting the error is quite simply that the source W2K image probably doesn't have the required drivers to pre-load the SATA RAID hence the failure. Remember that if your using SATA RAID you'd normally have to perform F6 during the install and load the required drivers during the initial phase of the install of the OS.

I'm not too familar with W2K so in terms of help can't help but if there's a repair option then maybe you should try that, also hit the F6 key during the boot from CD and load the drivers prior to performing a repair, may help, may be a complete waste of time.

don't think you can. The only thing you could try would be to install the sata drivers whilst windows is loaded up, then ghost it.

This is one of the limitations of ghosting type software as they require compatable hardware if you wish to ghost.

I think i'll go for the fresh install, as ghosting it last time took about 1hr:30mins - unless you know a way of speeding up the ghosting (it was about 27gb)
