The bad news is that it's on Universals 4Front budget label.
No specs yet but if other Universal budget releases ( Blood Simple ) are anything to go by we will be lucky if there widescreen. Which will be a shame because a lot of these would have been heading towards my collection if presented well. Here's the full list.
"Airport"
"Arlington Road"
"Bean"
"The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas"
"Billy Madison"
"Biloxi Blues"
"Brewsters Millions"
"Cry Freedom"
"Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid"
"The Electric Horseman"
"Fear"
"Fletch"
"The Game"
"Hard Rain"
"The Hard Way"
"King Ralph"
"Lorenzo's Oil"
"Mallrats"
"Night Hawks"
"The People Under The Stairs"
"Plunkett & Maclane"
"The Serpant And The Rainbow"
"Sgt.Bilko"
"Silent Running"
"Sleepers "
"Smokey And The Bandit"

Bah! If it does turn out to be a watered down version of the US disc, it would be a damn shame as there is, for some reason, a distinct lack of Kevin Smith films available on DVD in the UK (Dogma is the only one?).
There's a post from someone in the know about this on the r2 project message boadr who seems to think that consumers don't really care about extras when the price is low. I agree on some releases but on mallrats there'll be a lot of people who'll think otherwise. I posted there in response, prehaps if a few other people do then maybe they might change their mind.
Still there's some decent Wes Craven stuff there whihc will be around £7-8 in R4

Yep, with Mallrats, missing the commentary or the whole alternate original beginning would be criminal! :(
Nice to see 'The Hard Way' is finally being released, not on R1 yet is it? 'Fletch' and 'Brewsters Millions' hopefully will be decent releases too, and cheaper than the R1's.
I'll be happy if Brewsters Millions is just a bare bones disc... as long as it gets a widescreen anamorphic transfer. If not: aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhhhhhh!
The R2 release of Dogma was crap, so I doubt Mall rats will be any different.
I love my R1 collection of Kevin Smith movies.
Have watched them a countless number of times.
:) :)
well, I'm torned.
I really would like the commentary/extras, but £18 for a single disc is against my religion! and at only £8 from R4, that makes it even less tempting..but then I DO want the commentary..AARRGGHH :brickwall

I guess that the thinking is that though there might be a fair number of View Askew-philes in the UK (and especially in these forums) that these people will have already gone at got the (excellent) r1 SEs. I know that I have :)
Not everybody is *as* completist as us I s'pose.
Finally got through all the commentaries on the 'Clerks Animated' series a couple of nights ago. If you've put off listening to them so far, make time. Well worth it, as it always is on KS commentary tracks.

It sure is :D Click <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0783230060/qid=1005734841/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_10_1/102-9808534-4686548">here</a>
Anamorphic widescreen too, reckon the R2 will be!? ;)

I got my copy of Mallrats from dvdimport (www.dvdimport.com) for £14/15. Granted I had to wait a month for it but i've a huge too watch pile. Maybe you might want to try other e-tailers as i'm pretty sure you can get the R1 for less than £18. Anyway the extra is worth it if you are at all interested in what Kevin Smith has to say.
