Did a good search on the forums to make sure this ain't a dupe thread.
Amazon have reduced their previous price for the boxset by £8 ( i think ) it is now priced at £37.99, its still on for £44.99 on Play and £47.99 at hmv.co.uk
The boxset is released on 18th oct, NOT TOO LONG NOW!! :luv:
OC BOXSET AMAZON.CO.UK (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0001WHXUC/thedvdforums-21)
Same price at CD-Wow (http://tracker.tradedoubler.com/click?p=3128&a=60823&g=17349&url=http://www.cd-wow.com/detail_results_2.php?product_code=13540).
Cheers. Been wanting to order this after trying to watch it on Ch4/E4 and failing. Seems to move times and is cut too.
Pretty good price too, even compared to R1 which is about £32 at DVD Soon (http://www.dvdsoon.com/index.xml?partner_id=10040) but with the chance of customs on top.
Plus a voucher I had that needed using brought it down to under £35.00 :)

Fantastic. Had it on pre order at play for £44.99, but thats obviously gonna get cancelled. Will get it just in time before season 2 starts on 4th Nov in the states.
I'm loving this series. Is it really cut on C/E4?

From what I have read yes it is. Don't know how much or anything.
I think it is mainly some jokes/language not suitable for 2:30 in the afternoon.
And I think some drug taking references have been toned down/removed, again due to time of transmission. And from what I have read the late night E4 showing (usually after midnight I think) is still the same cut.
Hasn't stopped me enjoying it though. I just keep forgetting what time it is on and which is the last episode I have seen
also on E4 its billed as season 1 and season 2 wheras its just a single season shown in america. whats up with that? E4/CH4 dont have the money to buy the whole season all at once? and so have to fob us off with a "lite" version. despite the fact its been cut to pieces people in the uk can still enjoy this show due to a great cast and storyline.
cheers to the OP ive just ordered myself a copy.
What ratio is the R2 set in?
Both R1 and R2 are in 4:3
As for the lite version, I got the impression that it was 1 season though originally com****ioned for 13 epsiodes (or how ever many they showed) and was then picked up for the rest. Which kind of explains the splitting.

4:3 has really put me off this. It looks great in Widescreen.
Haven't missed one thanks to Tivo but not sure I need to see it all again on DVD though. Peter Galagher is a star I reckon, his missus is gorgeous, Seth Cohen has some great lines (as they all do except Ryan), Jim Robinson in there too and a fight at a party every other episode. You can't go wrong with this series.
The people behind the O.C. say that 4:3 is (and always was) the intended ration for season 1 (I think they have changed to w/s for season 2). It was filmed in w/s but meant to be seen in 4:3, though I believe was widescreen on a hidef channel in the US.
Yea , most of the season 1 i have is in widescreen, and its gonna be a nightmare watching this in 4:3 now. Ah well, if there is no chance of a widescreen release, i may aswell stick with this

I think I might actually wait for this one to go cheaper, I've still got to buy Alias season 3, lack of funds :( Wondering if like the Alias Boxsets on Amazon this will drop price in a few months. Alias tended to drop from £35 to £20 after a few months from release annoying because there's always the temptation to buy them as soon as really which I end up regretting because they're quite expensive. Then again I love The OC!! I hate being a poor student :(

Rumour has it that the boxset IS in widescreen according to a forum user on the digital spy forums. Can anyone confirm this? Thnx.
Seemed to be a few more drug references in last nights episode on E4. Uncut?

Not when customs and Royal Mails handling fees are added on top :(
Would be great for people who are off to the US for holidays though.
I guess it's not in widescreen after all :(
Still a boxet is a boxset, and this is a must, going to be patient and wait for a price-drop, hopefully!

CD-Wow (http://tracker.tradedoubler.com/click?p=3128&a=60823&g=17349) are customs free now - they mailed me & told me that in the unlikely event of a charge, they'd refund it in E-vouchers.

Can anyone else confirm CDWow do not insist you pay any customs/handling charges you may incur?
The situation is as Charlie has stated above. Packages are delivered through Europe now so no customs. And if by some freak it does get a charge they will refund as vouchers.
There is a thread in the suppliers about it all: here (http://www.thedvdforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=294438)
