I have a Panasonic AE-100 projector which I have my Sony 725 DVD player connected to via component. How can I connect my Sky and/or Tivo to the projector? Neither pieces of equipment have an S-Video socket so how can I do it? And no, I am not upgrading to Sky+!

Scart from Sky into DVD player and allow component to pass through.

(Not sure it that works mind).

If it did I would be laughing as I already have my Sky going through my DVD player as it is.

You could always use one of these (http://www.lektropacks.co.uk/product/technical.asp?dept%5Fid=103&sku=207) or one of these (http://www.lektropacks.co.uk/product/technical.asp?dept%5Fid=103&sku=593)

Yes but I would still want my Sky/TiVo box hooked up to my TV via RGB SCART.

I have a JS Electronics RGB to S Video box - has passthru RGB scart - works really nice. Look at http://www.js-technology.com/ though think I got mine from letsautomate.

Craig,

I'm not entirely sure I understand what you've got hooked up but I'll give it a shot based on what I know (you've not mentioned a vcr so I assume you don't use one). This is how I'd hook your kit up

sky -> tivo's aux socket
tivo's tv socket -> dvd player pass through input
dvd player's output -> jstech rgb\s-vid convertor input
svid convertor pass through output -> rgb input on tv

svid convertor s-vid output -> projector svid input

dvd player component output -> projector component input

All of the top list is running in rgb mode, I'm pretty sure your 725 dvd player does rgb pass through. You could choose to put the dvd player on the vcr socket of the tivo ... that DOES allow rgb passthrough up to the TV (but not the other way when playing tivo recordings to prevent RGB quality tivo to vcr\dvdr backups). The tivo would switch fine when the dvd player asserts the scart select line.

On the jstech box ... there are 2 versions - mark1 and mark2. Mark1 is a scart to svid box without passthrough (wouldn't work in my setup advice), mark 2 has the magic rgb passthrough. The box actually comes with 3 scart sockets, rgb in\rgb out\svid out - I then use a scart to svid connector adaptor and a 10m scart lead to get to the proj. Both the adaptor and the lead came from CPC - cheap ones, about £2 for the adaptor and £5 for the lead (matching 10m component lead was in that region too - I'm not a cablephile). My svid convertor came from ebay, think they're around £70 new?

I do have a video but won't use the VCR socket as the 725 does RGB pass through so will probably do the above method. So all I will need is an extra SCART lead to go from the convertor box to the TV and then an S-Video lead.

Sorry, so where do I buy that box from?!

Thanks.

take a look at the link (and info) in AndrewJ's post ...
mine came from the great car boot in the sky (ebay), all the cables from CPC (nice .5m scart leads keep tangles down to a minimum, prosignal svid & component leads, scart plug to svid plug adaptor etc).
