Hello, just wondering if anyone could let me know what's the best steering wheels for the ps2 console out there. I'm going to get the new slimmer ps2 in nov, and would like to get a steering wheel with it.
also how do i find out which games support the steering wheel???
I'll probably be using with Grand Turismo games, and idea of GTA games work with it too??
So far am considering:

probably the best wheel that works with the playstation 2 is the Logitech MOMO FORCE, its a discontinued pc wheel (red base, red pedals, hand stiched black leather wheel) but it works with a lot of ps2 racing games, good luck getting one though, they go for £100 on ebay, was trying to get one but gave up when i got GT3 and didnt like it. otherwise what ono says, and i think the pro one has a 200 degree compatibility mode for old games? oh and the standard driving force can be cheap on ebay.
compatibility info here:

Is the Official GT4 Driving Force Pro Wheel the only wheel thats compatable with GT4??, so theres no point in me getting any other wheel to play GT4 when i get it next week? Was looking at either the, Logitech Driving Force Wheel, or Logitech MOMO Force Feedback Steering Wheel (does this work on the PS2???). How much better is the Official GT4 Driving Force Pro Wheel over the older non Pro wheel? Wasnt someone sell one of these Pro wheels in the classified a while back?
I've played the GT4 Prologue with my Driving Force Wheel and it works fine. The only thing you lose out from the GT4 wheel is the 360 degree wheel turns (it's main feature).
The GT4 Driving Force Pro is about £99 whilst the normal Driving Force is £50.
Megatron was selling it a year ago. Don't know much about the MOMO.
Suffice to say my wheel will be dusted off when GT4 arrives
Thanks for the info Ono, just trying to weigh up if the Pro is worth the extra capital, dont like the old gear stick on the Pro! would be nice to have the 360 turn though, decisions, decisions! Any good places to get the pro from??
I was tempted by the Pro not long again - but I could not justify the extra when I already had the normal Logitech.
Considering that the 360 deg is only used in ONE game it was just not worth it.
I may pick it up if HMV/QVC ever have to reduce it to clear stock - I kept an eye on one in the corner of my local HMV for ages waiting for it to get reduced in a sale as it was sitting there gathering a thick layer of dust - but they never did.

the pro has 900 degree rotation but considering racing cars don't have that much rotation on the wheel and driving the standard cars is boring imo, seems a bit pointless apart from the stronger motor.
both the pro and non pro can happily be used on a pc as well :) well ime pretty sure of this :suspect:

I'm tempted by the Joytech FF Williams Formula 1 wheel - any comments/criticisms?
Joytech FF F1 Wheel at Amazon (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump.php?url=http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0002V7CPS/thedvdforums-21)
I think the Logitech Driving Force would be better than the Williams one! Thinking about it more, i probably just get the non pro wheel, if it works fine with GT4, you can pick em up on ebay for usually around the £25 mark!

ide agree with that, ide go for logitech over JOYTECH any day of the week :)
Just got my Logitech Driving Force, and im not sure if its working correctly, Ono when u got yours, was turning the wheel (without it being hooked up to the PS2) really smooth, or does turning the wheel feel like your turning a motor inside or something, its hard to explain, but it defently isnt smooth when i turn my steering wheel. Thought it would be more like the Super Sprint wheels in the arcade. Is my wheel buggered? Also i dont really get that much feedback from it in GT3, thought there would be an option to increase the feedback, i was expecting feedback when i crashed like it was in Outrun, used to rip the wheel out of ya hands almost in the Arcade when u flipped the car

sounds fine tbh, they are quite weak, and it should feel like you are turning gears and cogs/the motor, well i don't know but it's not smooth anyway.

That's what my Pro feels like. ie. You can feel (and hear) the resistance against the gear mechanism..
Yeah totally, whats the force feedback like on the Pro?
