Can someone tell me whether a DVD-18 is simply a two-sided DVD-9 (which conversely must be single-sided) ?
I ask because I am about to purchase a copy of R1 Terminator 2 ultimate edition and I see it is available as either (correct me if i am wrong) one DVD-18 or 2 DVD-9s. I can see no great advantage to having the double sided disk rather than the two single sided disks as i will have to get up and flip the disk anyway, which is not much less hassle than changing it.
Have I got this right?

DVD-18 is effectively two DVD-9s glued together (two 9s are 18 if my maths serves me right :))

Basically a double-sided dual-layer disc.

Bonus of two discs is you get picture discs :D

Some players don't like DVD-18s.

They are also an excuse for Warner to continue issuing snappers because it's more difficult to get two discs into a snapper, so they use DVD-18s instead (like Superman). Ban DVD-18s and Warner may be forced to ditch snappers  (More annoying is Warner's use of double-sided single-layer discs when there's no need at all, even with film on one side and extras on the other. Double-sided discs should be banned entirely and only use 2 discs only when two layers on a single disc are used up).

:D:D

I actually like double sided dual layered discs, only own one, Terminator 2 SE, and it's so "high-tech", so loaded, it's just nice holding this little shiny thingie and knowing there is so much stuff all on this one disc.
But picture discs are nice too, and there is no difference between switching the discs or flipping one.

I thought T2 UE is now only available as a 2 discer and the original 2 sided 1 discer had stopped being pressed? I may well be wrong but I'm sure thats what I heard?
I got T2 late last year and its the 2 disc version. I prefer this as I find it easier to handle normal discs compared to the 2 sided ones which I find are easier to mark/scratch!? Plus the 2 disc version has nice pictures on the discs :)

DVD 18 is indeed a dual sided dual layer disc. But What's wrong with Snappers? I know they can get damaged easier but they look nice on the shelf!

I must admit I thought that too - I ordered it from Play and was expecting the two disc version, but ended up with the DVD18...I don't really mind one way or another tbh.

You're kidding right? ;)

Can't stand the look of snappers myself.

I was under the impression the the 2 x DVD-9 were released first, as they had problems manufacturing DVD-18's. When all the problems were sorted, they moved to the dingle DVD-18.
