Just tried having a punt at this with the 12-month Live subs code I got with the Splinter Cell 2 pack from Amazon.

And it works!

Got my Live sub paid up through February 2006!

Guess we'll be looking at XB2 by then eh? Oh glorious majesty.

SP2, 12 months Live for £29.97 - what a crappin great lordy piece of magic.

I was talking to people on RS3:BA a few weeks ago telling them of the great SC:PT xbox live offer and how I was going to use it to continue my 2 months free trial. All I got was 'you can't do that mate - you will need to set up a new account' etc.

There's alot of people out there carrying on with monthly or yearly charges to thier Credit Card because they don't realise that you can use a 12 month starter code and keep your gamertag.

This was cool - I thought there was an expiry date for the code. There wasn't, anyway, but by that time I had "opened the box" and so entered it any way.

Matt - sorry, I meant Splinter Cell 2! My, what an encyclopaedic knowledge of gaming acronyms you have to have spotted that blunder!

So, my sub isnt due for renewal until about next March. If I went and got a Live Subscription Card and stuck it on my account then it would then be paid until March 2006 (i.e tacked on the end) ?

I believe so, yes.

I will be able to confirm stormywhether's cracking find in 2-3 days if you want a second opinion.

I thought this was something that was widely know anyway? I've always thought you could top up at any time, I've never seen anything that says "you can only top up in the final month of your sub"

twicenightly - yes, by buying a 12-month sub now (the £29.97 SC2 one from amazon, for example) you would indeed be able to renew until 2006.

This isn't widely acknowledged, camaj, which is why - for the benefit of fellow forumites who until now weren't aware of this facility - I posted, mindful of the bargalacious nature of the Splinter Cell deal.

When I ordered mine it was 24 hours. Why don't you email them and ask? They're pretty hot on customer services.

Has anyone ordered/received the amazon deal (SC2 + Live) recently? It says it can take up to 2 weeks to dispatch, is this actually the case? (If it is I mght be cutting it very fine to renew my subscription in time :doh: )

Worst case senario is that XBL will debit a monthly £4.99 payment and you'll get 12 months startkit sub + 1 month @ £4.99.

I've seen something in thier t&c's about crediting back money on accounts but I can't remember what for - I would'nt think you'd get the months £4.99 back after putting a 12 sub code on though.

My mate's ordered one also (over a week ago) and no sign of his yet either.
