I am sure I read a thread about this before, but I will ask again.

Can anyone name titles of films where I will be able to here dialogue from my rear speakers.
Especially a "scary" scene. The other `alf, after myself convincing her on the "benefits" of a decent set-up, is asking where are these films!,that I used to convince her that we should spend a small fortune on. :(

Dunno if this is a help but when I saw JP - The Lost World at the cinema, during the dinosaur hunt I remember hearing rear action. Some guys shouting while caging a dino.

It's a crap film but the Haunting of hill house remake has lots of 'wwooooaahhhrrrr' type spookey noises coming through the rear speakers.

Star Wars sounds great all around you... Even in a pretty average setup - I was surprised how well it sounded through my speakers anyhow. Others you may consider:

Terminator 2
Das Boot
Se7en
Fight Club
and (I would guess this has good use of the rears as it would sound phenomenal) Apocolypse Now Redux

The Shadow. Scene on the bridge at the beginning. One of my favourite uses of surround ever.

Strange Days R4 or being John Malkovich has very distinct rear speaker speech.

If I remember correctly: Brother, R2, had quite a few scenes with dialogue from the rears. ;)

On Gattaca (R1 at least) you can hear typists tapping on their keyboards all around you.

The X-Men (don't laugh) has Patrick Stewart speaking from different speakers when he uses his telepathic power. Is this any help to ya?

yep - great example in general for your rears. The whole film is great to show off your surround effects....

Although many don't like the film Scream 3 has some quite nifty surround effects. Especially at the end when they're lost in the house. (that wasn't a spoiler was it???).

Oh yeah and X-Men. My 7year old neighbour thought it ws SO cool when Xavier started messin' with Wolverine's head. It's times like that, that you really appreciate having the full set-up.:D
