Last weekend I watched:

Ghostdog: The way of the Samurai
It had an unusual feel to it but I thought it was excellent. Well worth a look.

The Straight story
Nothing much happens but the way it was filmed and the acting made it a film (which I thought I would not watch) a truly worthwhile experience.

This weekend:

Almost Famous
Another excellent film which leaves you wanting more. Not to be missed. The soundtrack is brilliant aswell.

Amores Perros
A very thought provoking, emotional, well acted, well directed film. I never thought it would be so good. Everyone needs to see this one.

I don't know what to watch next. I think I've watched all the good ones. Perhaps Castaway????

Yeah i watched Ghost Dog last weekend on the Filmfour weekend. It was an enjoyable ride but to be honest it isn't a film i would want to watch again in a hurry. I thought the acting was quite superb. I'm really looking forward to seeing Almost Famous. I bought Sight and Sound when it had the free screenplay to this and thought it was terrific. Unfortunately everytime i've gone to rent it from the library it's been out so hopefully soon.

My film i'd recomend for the week would be Swordfish, if you can get this cheap or borrow it off someone i thoroughly recommend it . I thought it would be a good film and i was right (IMO of course;) ). If you like action and top actors you can't really go wrong. Best bit for me was the cinematoghraphy. Every frame oozed class. Even the interrogation room and toilet looked first class. Top film.:D

Almost famous is such an emotional film (for me anyway) that I will have to watch it again just to get that feeling again.

What is Swordfish about? It sounds interesting. I might give it a go.

Action film starring John Travolta, Hugh Jackman and Halle Berry. Excellent movie if you like your brain-dead action movies like I do!!

As John said it's an action film of sorts although i found the characters and dialogue far more interesting than the action set pieces (although they are good). It's from the director of Gone in 60 seconds and Kalifornia). Have a glimpse through the other thread on this forum i believe the majority of those who saw it would recommend it.

Thouraoghly recommended. And the library was out of Almost Famous again.  Might just wait and get the 3 discer instead as i have a feeling i'll love this movie too.

I saw Ghost Dog with some mates a couple of weeks ago and have to wonder if it's the same film you're talking about.
I know the one I saw had me and my mates in stitches from beginning to end. Dunno if it was the "too, tooo serious" performance from Forrest Whittaker or the collection of "gangsters too crap to be in the mafia". I particularly thought the dying goat impression was hilarious.
I don't wan't to seem like I'm dissing your taste in movies but personally I could not take this film seriously. Soz.
