right. my installation of win2k proffesioanl has been knackered by a virus or something, so i'm taking this as the opportunity to do the big reformat and reinstall which i've been promoising myself for the last 6 months.

now, i've alway felt that win2k was a bit bloated for my lo spec home-user pc so i've decided that seeing as i have a copy of windows millenium upgrade i'll use that instead. it's my understanding that if i try to install is on a blank HD it'll first ask me to prove that i have a copy of windows so that it can install.

so my question is: if i prove i have windows byt sticking my windows 98SE disc in, will it need to install that first (FAT32!!) or will it be able to do a nice, fresh NTFS install?

thanks :)

I would just stick 98SE on it and forget about ME.

Or stick with 2000. It's really very nice and not bloated at all. Definately avoid ME.

Yeah avoid ME, preferably stick with 2000 it's mile more stable than both ME and 98SE.

Also note that 98 and ME won't support NTFS,

cheers for that guys :)

which leads me into my next question, i've got a motherboard with onboard sound & graphics but whenever i do a search for drivers for these, all i get is a .bin file which i assume is used for flashing the mobo (which i don't want to do)

any ideas? all i've got is a crappy manual (with no website link!!!) saying it's an M5SAA...
