bought this tv about 6 years ago,and has never gave me any problems up until now, over the past 4-5 weeks it would switch itself of and then turn it self on every now and again, although in the past 2 weeks,it has got to the stage that when you go to turn it on,it remains in stand by mode and refuses to come on,only after pressing the on/off button several times will it come on,but it is as if it has a mind of its own,as it then goes into stand by,and then turns it self on again :?: Does anyone have any experience of there t.v doin this, and does it sound like it is for the knackered yard......? :help:

Had the same problem with my hatachi 32" widescreen, the first one we had did this after a few weeks of purchase. The shop gave us a replacement and this worked for about 18 months until said problem reared it's ugly head again.

The TV was under warranty so got an engineer out and he said it was a common problem and it just needed a new curcuit(sp) board. Can't quite remember exactly what it was but it did the job. That was about a year ago and all's well, hope that helps.

Same happened to me, started after about 3yrs. Got a local repair man in who resoldered the board, something to do with duff solder or a weakness in the board. Worked for about another 12 months then binned it.
