I decided yesterday to plump for a Vita 50 from BK electronics found here http://www.bkelec.com/new, well I ordered it yesterday about 2 oclock and it arrived today at about 11 oclock. It's a bargain at £149.00 as it is as far as I can tell the same an MJA Pro 50 priced at £299.00 and to be honest I think the slate grey looks better than just black. Also the Vita has a nice blue LED to show that it is on that is very helpful.

It sounds great very fast and plenty of bass for my small front room, it's certainly better than the Canton sub that came with my cinema 1 package, my old Canton looks like the size of a PC, the speaker was inside and just had a port, it sounds terrible in comparison to the Vita also the wife prefers the smaller Vita sub

All in all i'm impressed with the sub and the service and as I was about to buy the Pro 50 I have saved myself £150. If anyone out there is after a small sub I can recommend the Vita 50

Have you got the specs for this sub, i.e: how low can it go?

I've had a look on the BK and Ruark website but cannot find any specs so as it is the same as an MJ Pro 50 look at the specs here http://www.mjacoustics.co.uk/mjacoustics_17.10.02/products/pro50.htm

I just e-mailed BKElec, and they say the Vita 50 only goes down to 28Hz. The MJA Pro 50 is rated down to a super-low 15Hz according to their website.

Not sure if this is similarly specced to the MJA in that case...

How much difference you can hear in a small room between 28 and 15, I'm not sure, and how much to trust manufacturers specs too...

Any idea how this compares to the Paradigm PDR-10?

I'd also like to know how it compares to the Paradigm PDR-10.

The 15Hz claim is misleading as it isn't given in context. I doubt the MJ or the BK has much useable extension below 30Hz. To mean something the response needs to be measured at +/-2or3dB. That's not to say the they're not good subs.

I have a Canton CD1 system too and have been thinking about a sub upgrade.

Was the improvement you noticed only with movies, or did it also improve the performance with music as that is the main area that is lacking with the Canton sub IMHO.

I don't need any more oomph from the sub, just a bit better integration with the sats so there is a bit less of a treble/bass with no middle feel with music

Any chance of a photo of it next to the Canton sub, so I can sell it to the other half on potential WAF ;)

I cannot vouch for how this sub compares to a PDR 10 as obviously I have never owned one, what I can say is that is is a big improvement on my last sub.

Art I bought a high level lead from BK for a tenner and I have now set the AV via the subwoofer output of my sony processor and the high level to the left and right speakers out for Hi-Fi use, the biggest difference between the Canton and the Vita 50 apart from the massive sound difference is that the Vita 50 has a better connections a far better control I now listened to music and film and it has realy improved everything, I realy am chuffed with the little Vita.

I will take a picture over the weekend and post on here, Ive never poted an image before so we will see how I get on

Thanks for the reply Dicky Smith.

I am sorely tempted to get one. We have got a Rel Quake at work which is a similar size, so I might take that home just to try it out to see whether the improvement is worth the £££.

Glad you are pleased with your purchase

Here is the picture of the Vita 50 next to my old Canton sub. I felt that the Canton always had something missing and with the Vita 50 the bit was missing is now there it just integrates brilliantly.

Hope the image works Ive never posted an image before
