I like to listen to the Commentaries on DVD tracks but lately as my collection grows i find i have more and more to listen too and it's becoming harder to pick out the best ones . And there is nothing worse than sitting down to a commentary and finding out it is absolute pap. So i thought a commentary review thread might be a good idea to help everyone decide which comm they should try out first.

Everyone can put in their thoughts on a particular comm here and we can give them a mark out of 5 so that everyone can just get an idea of wether or not they should commit to listening to one.

Obviously this is a subjective issue but the idea is to get a general overview of a particular good or bad comm.

I'm still unsure how we should rate them. Should it be out of 5 or 3, i.e, Bad, Watchable, Excellent?.

Or should it be a kind of points system where we add up the points and which ever movie has a lot of points can be considered viewable??. Movies over 20 points could be considered excellent with the fewer the points meaning the less impressive the comm is. This is just from the top of my head. Hopefully you guys can spot any inherent flaws with the markings and suggest something better.

I'll pass it to you guys to see how we could go about this. I think it'd be a helpful thread and one that might stop alot of dissapointment when one watches a Farrelly Bros comm. So when (if) we come to a satisfactory rating system we can set up an official site.

What do you think???

I think a 5-star rating would be the best.

How would the site work? Like a message board where people are free to post their commentary ratings, or would they have to be submitted (e.g. via email)?

Whiggles i didn't mean start up a website although that would be a great idea. What i meant was a thread in these forums where people could post a few comments on a commentary followed by a mark out of 5 or a point and we could then collect them together and display the results on the first page. A bit like the good traders thread. Where the first page could mark the best comm from top to bottom.

Thanks for the input we'll see if anyone else has any suggestions. There is no point in doing it if no one is interested.

I'm all for it, and I think if it was started up, people would be likely to use it.

You're probably right Whiggles. I'll get something together and post a thread in the next days or so and see what happens. I guess if people just put their thoughts down we might not even need a point system.

Stay tuned:D
