It looks very very poor. Burton's lost the plot.
I'd still watch so I'll hire it.

I saw it at the cinema and enjoyed it, the dvd is a great 2 disc set.
So I would say, buy it.... :)

I would say buy it. Its a great 2 disc set as mentioned above and IMO the film isn't THAT bad. Although I didn't think had as much of a Burton 'feel' as the rest of his films.
If you dont like it I'm sure you will be able to trade it on :)
Sadly, it is that bad. If you have to see it, rent it.
The film is pretty watchable and has its moments.
The DVD is pretty decent and would make a good addition to your collection.
I would buy it. (and indeed have:D )
Get this son, you may regret it, but the extras should be worth it.:brickwall

Having only just got into the whole POTA thing I bought the R2 boxset of the original and really enjoyed them. So being a Tim Burton fan and ignoring any negative reviews I bought the new DVD from MT and was really disappointed. I haven't yet gone through the extras as I think there are some alternative endings on there.
I'd say wait for it to come on rental or something then make your mind up. :)

I enjoyed it. :D
There is NO alternate endings though, so don't get your hopes up for this particular extra. Tim Burton himself states these were just a rumour. :p

If you're a Tim Burton fan then there's every chance you might find enjoyment in the film. It has its moments but overall it's a big pile a dung! ;)

I'm a huge Tim Burton fan but I missed this at the cinema (my life was a bit chaotic when it was released) so I was eager to see the DVD. Bought a copy from Ringos last week, ignoring the very mixed reviews the film had been given, but I'm afraid I have to agree with the negative views.
What happened?! With all the talent involved you'd think that the end result would be a bit more interesting than this!
Where was Burton's unique vision, here? It seemed to me like he was just a director for hire on this film. Much of it came across as rushed and many scenes were underdeveloped.
Even Rick Baker's (another hero of mine) make up was mixed in that, although technically brilliant, I didn't think some of the designs worked too well.
It does have one or two moments and Danny Elfman's score is effective, but overall it was a huge disappointment and a massive missed opportunity.
The DVD on the other hand is an excellent package with many worthwhile extra's - the Rick Baker make up workshop one in particular is superb. Haven't had time to listen to the commentaries yet, though.
So I'd recommend the DVD for the extra's alone if you're a Tim Burton fan, as they are quite substantial. But don't expect too much from the movie!
I saw this one at the cinema although it's not to bad but I think it's more of a renter than a keeper as far as the film is concerned. But in saying that I will probably buy it because of all the special features and because it's a Tim Burton film.
