Assume on R2, I got the R1 which is 5.1 sound and 1.85:1 16x9 for about £11 a while ago.

Didn't the R2 just have a stereo track on?

hmm - yes, the R1 is a decent enough version of this GREAT movie, but I think jroadley's right - the R2 is just a stereo soundtrack.

'Samsonite. I was way off'

If there is a new release, it might be worth checking out, esp. if they add some decent extra features....

Not according to the BBFC:

When submitted to the BBFC the work had a running time of 106m 43s.

Doesn't list any cuts. Your not thinking of Kingpin are you? As that was cut for the UK release (Same directors!)

I'm sure there was a scene taken out when they pick up the native american family. It's a really pointless removal of a scene but I'm sure it was done.
For what reason I do not know??

The UK DVD Cuts List (http://www.ukdvdcuts.co.uk/) sheds a little light on the matter:

"I've been informed by email that the UK DVD release is 100 minutes, not 102 as stated on the box, and that the VHS tape contains more footage. This is a distributor cut."

Not conclusive by any means,

However:

the BBFC (http://www.bbfc.co.uk/website/Classified.nsf/BBFCStandardFrameset?OpenFrameSet&Frame=BBFCLower&Src=_s5trmaojjd5q6abq3dhgn6sr9cpkmap1edppmcbp44h9maobicdk3ujrgcln4crridkj42tbkdt374obdcli00_) list the film as 106m43s. Allowing for PAL 4% speed up this should give a video run time of 102m27s. The 1995 classification (for the PAL vhs version) lists the run time as an uncut 102m8s (close enough!), but the 1999 classification (for the PAL DVD version) lists the run time as an uncut 100m16seconds.

Make of that what you will, but it does look like a distributer cut to me.

Spot on the "Native American's" arn't on the DVD I think the Laxative Toilet scene is also cut slightly.

I think the Play R2 coming soon is just a re-release of the original disc.

R1 and R2 are cut. Both DvDs cut the scene where Harry throws his waste out the window at marrys house. I'am not sure if the cop chase is cut on R1 but it is on R2 when the cop starts chasing them harry says " What should i do??" Lloyd says " how about DRIVE FASTER . They also cut out the hitch hiker family scene.

I should imagine if there is going to a special edition it'll come out next year to tie in with the 'Dumb and Dumber: The College years' film.

Just found this thread through the search. I was looking for where to get hold of the dutch R2 release which has more extras and a 5.1 sound track.

But since this special edition looks like its coming I don't think I'll bother

Cheers

I've holded out getting this since it was released, to see if a SE comes out. Hopefully these SE reports are true and not just Rumor mill mush!:smokin:

Well looking at the price of the R2 DVD - play £8.49 / amazon £9.99 - Could they be getting rid of stocks to pave the way for the special edition?
