View Full Version : [ADSL] Wireless Modem Router £28.65 delivered
Ok, it's b-grade stock - but still a good deal. Here at Ebuyer.com (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=1743242258&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=52520)
From what I've read I think it's an Origo AWR-8210 (http://www.origo2000.com/show-prds.php?ID_NUM=3)

Gah - just ordered a similar router about 2 days ago for double the price
Good price :)
Fantastic, just what I need for the Outlaws place.
Thanks :)
Got one of these and they're great
thinking of setting up a network at home,
what would i need if i want to link together
1 pc with adsl modem and internet connection,
1 pc (no internet access)
1 laptop
and maybe an xbox.
thanks
Tom
thanks just ordered one. I'm replacing a wired Ebuyer router which was cheap but worked very well.
Edit - are you sure this is a modem? looks just like a router??
@tomw3uk
The ADSL Wireless modem would mean you need no dedicated PC hooked to the internet, as it's hooked up already sharing the Internet Wifi or wired, you'd just need each other device hooked via Wifi, or wired, depending on thier location. Can't be more specific, unless I was looking at a location setup . . .
Jason.
cheers, picked one up also

Be aware you might need to send it back if it doesn't come with any cables!
Was waiting to hear whether my line was finally going to be suitable for BB before I ordered one of these...ah well....looks like the hand has been forced....(saved the free postage offer from yonks ago on these forums) thanks to the original poster (of that thread at least !!)
Not entirely clear what it ships with (or without) and whether it needs a firmware upgrade - glancing at some of the support pages this may be an interesting process - involving a sub-800Mhz machine....(knew it would come in handy some day, but where did I put it ?? oh and where's the rabbit's foot/snake oil ??).
Further good luck to all of us lucky (??) enough to snatch one of these bargainaroonies (unless it turns out to be a real beach to upgrade, with no support and buggy firmware......).
May the Gods of the Bargain Forum smile sweetly upon us. :notworthy :notworthy

looks like our posts crossed (must be bad luck or something) - which cables are you referring to and can they be obtained elsewhere/otherwise?? :?:
have you experienced this problem ?? have I just bought your ex-router - minus cables....
I'm sure they're just covering their backs - but I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!
I'd imagine that 99% of them have everything included, but just wanted to warn people before ordering them for something mission-critical (like going round to the in-laws!)
Gone to ordered on request now so I guess thats the end of it. Trust me to be a doubting thomas and read the Origo website while there was 3 remaining :(
i've just ordered one (thanks to the poster!) and it still says 2 left, so there's still time dblake!

I ordered one of these a few days ago from ebuyer and was waiting to see what it was like before I posted it. Should be here tomorrow morning so I'll let you all know what its like.
The only cables you'd ever need with these would be a standard phone lead and possibly an ethernet cable to connect it without using 802.11b. You could pick these up cheaply anywhere so that shouldn't be a problem.
Just pray you get a power pack ;) :D

just wanted to warn people before ordering them for something mission-critical (like going round to the in-laws!)
I usually carry a short piece of cheeze-wire attatched to wooden handles for the mission-critical "mother-in-law" jobs... :n0rty:
Pull it just tight enough and hey presto
- suppose the RJ-11 connector would cramp my style ??
It's showing now as £41 - am I looking at the right link?!?

Just got mine in the post this morning, I have to say it is one of the most ugly pieces of computer equipment that I've ever seen!
However mine did come with the power supply, manual, ethernet cable, phone lead and USB lead. I can see why they're listed as B-Grade stock, the packaging is tatty and the phone lead wrapping was open, that hardly matters though as the packing goes in the bin anyway. I'll test it out later on today to see what its like, I'm hoping the range might be quite good as it has two large external antenna

Would this work with an NTL connection?
I don't have a wireless card... hmm hope it's not pricey...
cheers

NTL's off-net ADSL yes, but not their cable broadband offering.

You serious?!
Then what would I need (router wise) if I had an NTL cable broadband service?

You need one with a NTL modem such as this one on Dabs.com:
Product Link (http://tracker.tradedoubler.com/pan/TrackerServlet?p=14532&a=60823&g=86005&url=http://www.dabs.com/uk/productView.htm?quicklinx=2VHG)
(I think Dabs site may be down at the moment)
Or you could buy a seperate NTL modem/router and attach it to the router on ebuyer.

What do you make of this (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005ARK3/thedvdforums-21)? Will it solve all my problems?

Was unfortunately to late to get one of these so let me know if you dont need the ebuyer modem/router as i'll buy it off you for cost + postage.
Thanks,

Sorry man, I didn't end up buying it myself. Was just disappointed that it's so difficult (and expensive) to set up a network with a cable broadband connection...

In most cases ( ok this ebuyer cheapie was a great deal )..it's cheaper to buy a router without a built in modem..the cheaper ones provide a RJ45 connection you just plug your cable modem into ( i believe these are supplied by NTL etc with the connection )
