Urgent Advice Needed!

My other half is a school teacher. She wants a laptop for lesson planning, word documents, surfing the net etc. We definately want wireless ability. It won't be used for gaming etc at all - but we would like to watch the odd DVD on it. As always I have been charged with finding her the best deal.

I have 2 laptops in my basket from the Dell Outlet and would welcome your thoughts on which is the best deal (quite like the idea of the widescreen one myself)....

If you don’t think that either of the deals are worth going for please let me know. I’ve been on the outlet for a few days and these seem to be best bets so far. But should I hang around for a bit longer to see what I can get?

Many thanks in advance! :)

System 2- basically cos of the bigger hard drive, double the RAM, better screen, higher capacity battery and by the looks of it, no network card on system 1, but I don't think thats right. :D

are those prices ex vat, warranty and delivery?

ex vat and delivery.

Does that not make them good deals in your opinion. Have dumped the first now - just a matter of whether I bite the bullet with the second or just forget it and keep an eye out for a better deal!

Thanks for the advice D'Ohnut

Delivery is £25 so comes in at about £840 all in. Reckon it's worth it?

I would say you're not saving enough on the new price really (would be £997 inc vat del and 1yr warranty - but that comes with a 64mb graphics card) - yours will be £843 I reckon all in with 1yr CAR warranty - although I'd recommend a longer warranty with a laptop.

The deals on the outlet haven't been that good recently, but I recently found a similar laptop which would have worked out at £765 all in with a 3yr CAR warranty.

I would say that you might have to wait a while, but you should be able to find a better deal.

Thanks Joby.

I see your point. Think I was getting carried away. I've dropped it now.

Thanks for your time and advice.

Mods please close!

no worries - I would recommend the 8600 though - got one myself.

I thought all teachers got laptops provided now through some sort of initiative - my mums a taecher and recently got a spanking new fujitsu centrino.
