View Full Version : ATI Catalyst Control Centre is out
ATI's eagerly anticipated (on ati forums anyway!) new control centre is now available for download:
http://www2.ati.com/drivers/wxp-CATALYST-CONTROL-CENTER-17307.exe
It's designed as a replacement to the display properties screen. It's big (19mb) and requires the .net runtimes.
I haven't yet had time to try it out and see what it does different.
I thought it was bigger than that, 29mb, which is its biggest -ve
Both Tom's and Anand have lots of screenshots of it...basically I can't see anything performance wise thats useful...but seeing the effects of the changes instantly is a good thing.
So for a radeon newbie what does it actually do?

This will tell you all you need to know

Looks quite funky actually
The 'on the fly' 3D settings will be handy... by the looks.
Downloaded it, tinkered with it, uninstalled it. Slow and clunky, plus right-clicking on either the Monitor or TV icons and selecting 'device properties' failed to do anything, so I couldn't access settings for TV formats (e.g. PAL to NTSC), overscan, brightness, image flicker.
Its a good idea, especially allowing 3rd party plugins but the initial release seems bugged and slowwwwwwwww ... back to the old control panel, methinks!
