This is available at Richer Sounds £79.95 (In shop only)
I have seen the ADL 528 mentioned on the forum but has anybody used this model? There is no mention of it on any Cyberhome page that I can find on the 'Net'.
Thanks - RQ

According to their latest catalogue it's just like the 528 but without the DD decoder.

If it's anything like the 528 I would steer clear. Just bought one of those from WHSMITH (£99 inc delivery) and its going back tomorrow
- incredibly noisy drive (continuous high pitched whine), can even hear the power supply hum like a fridge with it in standby
- terrible sound quality
- subtitles keep switching on (I believe theres a firmware upgrade for that though)
- appalling remote control, have to really dig your nails in to get the buttons to work
- MP3 playback misses first two seconds
- terrible user interface
+ on the plus side it is handset hackable and was quite happy playing VCD, and MP3 on CDRW (after the first two seconds), and shows ISO level 2 filenames i.e. 22 chars or something like that

everingm,
Thanks for the post.
Just what i didn't want to hear of course (in fact I was thinking of buying the 528) - but I'm glad I did before I parted with the readies.
Time to compare some other machines. Thanks again.

Hi - I've got the M model, the one with the decoder, from WHSmith for £120 and my first impressions, compared to my mid-model Wharfedale 750s, was favourable. The drive was much quieter than the Whafie (Remembering the praise given to the Wharfie.), the picture and sound quality was nice and smooth. I was sent the hack file from Cyberhome and the update (Via CD-R) went very smoothly, so now I have multiregion, region setable and I can switch off macrovision.
My only moan is that I can't play, so far, Toy Story 2 Region 1, although Toy Story Region 1 plays fine. Severe picture blocky breakup and sound probs. Might be a dirty disc. Any ideas anyone?
So even though you may not want the L, consider the M?
(Which I assume is a newer model, being further up the alphabet and with a decoder too??)
frank
Just to let you know, its the ADM512 model. Oops.

I HAVE A ADM 512 AND NEED THE HACK FOR MULTI ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN GET IT.
1. Open the drive tray
2. Press the 7 button on your remote control
3. Press the 6 button on your remote control
4. Press the SEL button on your remote control
5. You will now enter the hidden setup page, and can change the player to any Region or set it to Region Free by entering 13 as the country code.
Found at
DVD Reviewer (http://www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk/info/multiregion/full/cyberhome212.asp), it's the same hack as the one for the AD-N 212.
And welcome to the forums...
The ADM 512 is an old model and no longer available.
It was replaced by the ADL 528 well over 6 months ago.
The latest firmware and other info (on all cyberhome models) is available at:
www.cyberhome-help.de
Unfortunately they are renown for very dodgy build quality (worse than most other cheapies) and noisy drive units. There are now better buys for your money.
